If you get a machine uprising as an organic empire, half of the buildings on the robot occupied planets just disappear, they don't get ruined, they disappear. Also, once you get your planets back, all of your city districts also disappear. I'm pretty sure this has to do with how robotic civilizations don't use the buildings that get removed, and that they have different names and descriptions for their housing districts. This has made machine uprisings very tedious to play through, and the redevelopment you have to do after you recapture your planets sucks the life out of the game.

Robot uprisings are brutal. Even when it's wom it takes ages to get the economy on track.
I had the uprising and as soon as I'd recovered the contingency parked to systems in my empire. Game over.

I'm pretty sure that has to do with the uprising event converting the city districts on the planets that are taken into Nexus districts, but you don't get the planets back via event. It's also rather likely that this will be fixed in a later update to make the consequences of something you at this point can't even seem to prevent (you don't even have to research basic robots for the rebellion to happen) a little less likely to end your game.

And boy is my personal opinion about this going to be unpopular, but in retrospect I loved it when that happened to me in my latest ironman game. On top of having to retake my military and civilian production centres as well as my science hub, after beating back the AI (Rogue Servitors no less, so I could imagine some people being unhappy about being "rescued" from them) stability still collapsed and crime ran rampant, and instead of just forgetting the AI that tried to take over my everything I am pretty sure that I will remember this struggle and the work it took to rebuild for as long as I play Stellaris.
