Hey guys, I'm playing as Prussia, and got sucked into a couple of wars with Russia so things are a little skewed timeline-wise, but essentially, I got the Zollverein dominance event sometime around 1867ish and won that war (vassalized all the little countries, let Austria go w/ force disarm and reparations since my BB was a bit tough), and after finishing that war, about 6 months later the Spanish succession event triggered. I went to war w/ France over it, launch my invasion, and after winning all the 4 battles (Luxembourg (French)+ all my Prussian cores) but having not even had time to finish sieging those territories, it brings up the "Fall of Prussia" event, claiming that somehow I lost a slew of battles (never lost a 1, France lost 4 and I was in the process of occupying that whole region) and forced a farce of a peace on me. So I figure "meh, it screwed up."

So I reload, and BEFORE the spanish succession event fires, I go ahead and declare war since, since it's 1872, I supposedly can just attack, occupy Paris, and win. So I did just that...and to be sure I occupied the entire European area of France.

No event fires. No peace, no Germany, no nothing.

What am I doing wrong? Or is this, in some twisted world, working as designed? HOW?

Read this thread and see if it helps you to figure out what may have happened.

Otherwise, I'm not sure.

Wow, thank you alot for posting that. I can't believe that crap-My Prussia has the world's largest army, but a tin can navy, so when, in 1870, France declared colonial war against my ONE colony-Rooktown, I accepted them taking it because I had no way to move troops in force to Africa. I can't believe that after 35 years of spectacular playing it all came down to 4000 Africans growing fruit. That sucks, hard.

I won't argue with you; but keep your hopes up and continue playing the vanilla game until you are comfortable with the game mechanics and then take a look at VIP. It's a primarily historically-based mod, but they are really trying to get the events to make sense all along the way. Of course, that's a lot of work. They have only made it to around 1880 or so in their event chains, and only a smaller amount of work has been done for games that may wander away from history, relatively speaking. I think you would like it though. It's definitely a work-in-progress.

Well I'm still running the southern revolutions mod on it...is VIP another mod on top of that? Sorry, I generally don't mod many games I play, so to find one where it's really a good thing (rather than a whizz-bang cheap thing) is cool. Where can I find more info on it?

VIP Download Thread

This will certainly get you started, along with OHgamer's signature.

SR and VIP are not compatible. You will need to have a separate directory for VIP.
