I stumbled upon a problem with creating event pictures, so if someone can help I'd be grateful.

Here's the thing: I don't have Photoshop so I'm using IrfanView to create event pictures. Basically, this is what I did:

1) using pictures that work from the mod, I created a template to use for all event pictures:

2) I found a decent picture, resized it in the correct ratio to fit in the black area, and then simply pasted it into the template:

3) Finally, when I put the picture into the event_pics folder and run the event, it looks like this, the edges are messed up and the green background isn't displayed at all:

What could be the cause of this? I'm suspecting that it's because of the white edges; they aren't sharp like they should be.

The green area gets replaced by the background colour (like the blue screen in the movies). But in order for it to do just that it needs to be of the exact RGB value. By saving into BMP format the edges are smoothed out somewhat, so you end up with just that tiny hint of a different green...
Easiest solution: use the correct background instead of the green. I know I do. If you make a full empty background you don't even have to bother about sizing your event image exactly according you your blacked-out window. So you can rotate or whatever without problems. :)

Nice 'event box'; did you do that yourself?

If so, perhaps you can upload it? :)

Since your event box is a straight one(by that I mean no diagnose lines), there shouldn't be any smoothing effect when you save the picture which creates a green border around the picture. From what I see I could tell that your template isn't so nicely made. When you look closely to the template, you can actually see a green frame that I bet is not the "R:0 G:255 B:0" green, therefore the game will not recognize it as the color to be ignored.

So the best solution, if your purpose for event picture is simply the picture itself (meaning no decorative frames or the sort), is to:

1. open your template
2. recolor the non-[R:0 G:255 B:0] green to [R:0 G:255 B:0] green
3. more easily, open a new file that has the same dimensions as your template, color it to the green that I have mentioned for two times now, and cut the black area and paste it onto your new greenish picture. Then there is a brand new event frame!

This should solve your problem. :)

Thank you, I got it to work right. :)

I didn't do it myself, that's the one created for MDS2. Hold on a bit 'till I ask the guys if I can host it ;)
