Has anyone tried to protect a small island (Malta, Gibraltar, Bermuda, etc.) with fighters? It doesn't work very well - it seems like the fighters will just sit there in those 1-province areas since they're already in the only province in the area. Result: the enemy will be able to bomb you without interference from the fighters.

Similarily, if you've ever taken a province with an airfield from the enemy and then rebased your bombers to that province - the bombers don't ever seem to touch enemy units in the province where they're basing. If there are no other provinces in that area, they just sit there instead of bombing the units in their own province.

This is very similar to the bug in HoI where planes on a carrier wouldn't bomb ships in their own sea area. Only in HoI at least fighters did intercept bombers in their own province. This time around, island-hopping is annoying since you can't get effective fighter protection for your island provinces.

I would be very happy if Air Superiority was abstracted entirely (no flying around, just a percentage chance that the fighters would intercept airplanes in their assigned province). Failing that, simply allowing airplanes to fly to their own province would help a lot.
