Problem: my dynasty has changed

For whatever reason my dynasty has changed to my bastard father's dynasty (it's a bastard branch of my dynasty). although I was born in a matrilineal marriage between my bastard father and my kinswoman.
Since my succession type is Eldership, I can't appoint successors of my own dynasty anymore.

What are your suggestions?

I don't really want to change succession to Primogeniture, but it's the only solution that I can think of.

I was not patient enough. Changed my succession to primogeniture. And it was a mistake. It means game over, because my son is of my REAL dynasty. The game doesn't care that it's the real dynasty, because it's not mine. I have played for 200 years so far. I'm so ANGRY now!

I guess the reason why my dynasty changed was because my bastard father remarried patrilinealy. And that changed my dynasty. Learn from my mistakes, children.

I reached that point by switching to primogeniture. Had I stayed in Eldership I could have appointed my brother. But then I'd also loose all that dynasty prestige that I had accumulated over 200 years, plus my REAL dynasty owned ~80% of all county+ titles.

I wouldn't want to continue with another dynasty anyway.

Don‘t be sure that you Could have Continued with the other dynasty. In one playthrough as a zunist my game Switched also the dynasty for whatever reason. As the Time for the children of his Came to iherit i got a gameover

It dounds like you appointed an unlanded bastard as your heir. I didn't think that was possible but i can't think of any other explanation.

Essentially bastards work like this, if they are unlanded and have no children they hold onto their parents dynasty. But once that changes they get their own. So if a bastard were to be the players heir somehow then on succession the dynasty would change. Its not supposed to be possible to make a bastard your heir for this reason. Maybe in eldership succession the elders can pick him.

Omg if this works ima exploit the shit out of this in my next game to make cadet branches. Something that has been missing for to long

I think it was a bug. I was born into my mother's dynasty. I should have stayed in my mother's dynasty.

My bastard father was landed. (I intentionally land my bastards or marry them within my realm, so that there are no adventurers later on). I was landed. My heir son was landed. And even if they weren't, it shouldn't have changed the fact that I belonged to my mother's dynasty.

At that moment a lot of things were happening on the map and there were a lot of pop-ups. I think that is also the moment when my father remarried patrilineally. And the game changed the dynasty for all his children who were already born from the previous matrilineal marriage. It shouldn't have happened.

Yeah, I would very much think it was a bug. That's just one of the only things I can think of that changes the dynasty of a living character. I don't know what it would do to grandchildren if you legitimized a bastard son who was married with kids (or even if you can at that point). Actually, you said he was a bastard who originally married matrilineally and then remarried patrilineally. If that patrilineal marriage triggered the "Create a new house" thing and matrilineal does not, would that carry down to all his legitimate children? It shouldn't do it to those who weren't carrying his lineage, but I wonder if that is the source of the bug.

If you're playing Ironman then when you hit the game over screen alt-F4, start CK2 again and load the save from the main menu. It'll load you into the dynasty that inherited, i.e. your son. If it's not Ironman then it should be easy to fix through changing character or save file editing or what not.
