Probably the weirdest PU I've ever seen.

So yeah, this happened:

I'm not exactly sure what happened, from what I can reconstruct Uzbek (original Shaybanids) got one of their nobles on the Timurids' throne (and then lost their Shaybanid dynasty) and from there to Yemen. But how they got their dynasty on both Ming's and Shan's throne, I'm not sure, Uzbek, Timurids and Yemen are all still Sunni and Shan and Ming are Buddhist and Confucian respectively.

I am going to take a wild guess and say they RM some Muslim country in India. Then the Indian country got the Yemen dynasty and rebel flipped to Hindu. Then they married Shan and Ming spreading the dynasty further. Finally Yemen just got lucky and PU with Ming even though they don't have a RM with Ming.

Yeah, that's probably how it went down, I'm thinking Jaunpur is the culprit, they have a RM with Shan but I can't check which dynasty they were since they're in a PU under Vijayanagar now. Still, seeing Yemen controlling Ming makes me giggle.

but don´t you need a RM for the PU to happen? i though that without RM Ming would get the same dynasty, but for PU you need RM.... right?

I'm guessing that they looked for the closest dynasty member (highest prestige) and found Yemen.

Nope. In my last Sweden game i got a Personal Union with Bavaria, despite not having any relations with them. Both me and them were Von Wittelsbachs.

Shaybanid is one of the available dynasty names for the altaic culture group, and that list isn't that long. It also includes two nations which start the game with an eastern religion; the Mongols and Oirats.

I imagine the Oirats died heirless, a Shaybanid monarch was generated for them, and through intermarriage with the Ming and Shan said monarch took their thrones. At the same time, the Uzbek Shaybanids (the historical time Shaiban's descendants reigned) took Yemen's throne by royal marriage with the Timurids. Finally, Ming's Shaybanids went extinct, and Ming wound up being ruled by their distant foreign relatives in the Arabian peninsula, probably after a succession war of some sort between Shaybanid branches.

In my Oirat Horde games I always end up at some point being under Personal Union of Kazan or Qara Konyulu... despite no RM with them. Even when on monarch death it says 'a oirat noble will inherit the throne'. Quite irratating when my prestige and power are stellar and my inheritor is some backwater second rate power than I have no relation with whatsoever.

Novacat is correct. I've gotten one or 2 random PUs with countries I had no relations with, Holstein with England and Hesse with France. Sometimes dynasties take on a life of their own and you wind up with the windfall.

I've seen Hesse go to France a couple of times myself, weird that it's those two so often.

Spanish line dies out and takes in a central European dynasty. Central European dynasty "lead" dies and the next in line which is possibly Spain takes control of throne.

You can flip either story around. This is what happened with the Von Habsburgs when there was no longer an heir to inherit the Spanish throne.. they took control.

Not only that, you can straight up inherit countries you've never so much as clicked on.

That was a normal PU actually, Spain and Hungary were allies and had a RM. Hungary passed its dynasty on to Spain and got PU'd a bit later. A couple of years before this screenshot, you would have also seen a Portuguese Austria but I released them again.

Yet another weird PU thing with this game was this: Spain, Portugal, Muscovy and me (Hungary too but they're gone as I said) all have Rurikovich monarchs. I had Spain and Portugal under me and then saw that I could claim the Muscovite throne as well, which I promptly did. He was allied with France and had a RM with them too but France has a de Bourbon monarch. So I'm warring Muscovy and France but then all of a sudden Muscovy drops out of the war and I only get the message that I lost my claim on their throne, which can happen during a throne claim war but it'll continue normally. So I checked what happened: Turns out that even though I claimed the throne and was of the same dynasty as Muscovy AND had more prestige than France, France still got Muscovy in a PU. Lucky nation indeed!
Now the war continued, me vs France, the war for the Muscovite throne. I won the war and actually got France AND Muscovy in a PU under me, which didn't really make sense but hey, I was happy.

Ofc, instant karma happened and France turned revolutionairy so I waited out the truce and went with the revolutionairy CB since I know you can't restore a PU with a republic unless you want to keep doing that over and over every election. Plus the restoration of union CB was available long enough for a second war after this one. So I turned them back to France but lost my restoration of union CB anyways. I was pretty pissed but hey, I shouldn't have been able to PU them anyway.

Very weird game!
