Pro-Ironman or Anti-Ironman?

I'm definetely pro-ironman,even in the case where I make a stupid mistake,which would normally make me go back and change it. Mistakes allow for a chaotic variable that makes the game much more fun. It makes the experience more realistic as well. Many stupid mistakes were made during WW II by the "all-powerful" leaders of the time.

although it sucks that in EU4 people can dupe their saves and cheat the system and still get ironman acheivements... Paradox You need to fix this!!!

I got somewhat frustrated when I read achievements are only available if you don't reload, but after my CK2 experience, I feel the challenge wouldn't be the same with Ironman off. Not because the game itself would be easy, but because if something doesn't work, well, reload. A risky move is considerably more thrilling when you have to face the consequences. Few games have this sort of difficulty.

Well, Ironman pretty much deserves to be the standard, though those who want to just mess around the game can turn it off. There is not really much more to be said.

I wouldn't play Ironman for a first game playthrough, or a buggy game. I have scrapped multiple campaigns because I misinterpreted a tooltip or the tooltip was simply wrong. That leaves me with a feeling of being cheated. Paradox games require a lot of memorizing of rules in order to be successful, I'm not going to 'Ironman' before I understand most of these rules.

However, once I've learned the game, I play Ironman.

When I start stressing about how a game goes to shit I am often inclined to cheat, this is why I always play on ironman so when I type in the cheat I'm just faced with an error and forced to actually deal with my issues and mistakes.

Generally anti, at least in the achievement and bug sense. I'm actually cool with games forcing you into ironman for achievements, but the monthly autosave is just over the top control freak unless they manage to make a universal way to save very quickly.

Pro. If there's a major bug or fuckup, just end the hoi4.exe process from task manager and reload the last save.
To the cheaters, you have no excuse!

Couldn't care less one way or another. I play games to have fun, not to collect achievements. If I can have said fun while under ironman restrictions, then that's great. If I feel that I can't, then away with it. No one or no thing is ever going to force me or tell me how I should enjoy spending my time.

Ironman only, when I don't need mods for German Translation, like in Crusader King 2...that really sucks, plz paradox, spend enough time for good localisation of the game.

This is a historical game, so there shouldn't be anyone with any kind of super powers anyway, and thus no need to- what? Oh, that kind of Ironman.

I tend to play on Ironman when possible. Having the ability to go back and change the past means that settling for any significant setback feels like "losing". When you have to live with your mistakes, an imperfect game feels more natural. Plus, having multiple "timelines" muddies the narrative of the game in your head and makes it feel less like a story.

Well, Ironman still have a lot of disadvantages, especially when the game will be release. First, there will be probably a lot of bugs (like always), and I don't really want to have my game ruined because of this. Also, for the first games, we will have to understand the basic mechanisms. With country like USA, it won't be a problem, but with a harder country like Germany or France, we could lose the game on some stupid mistakes. There is also the mouthly save, which will slow down the game. And last thing, on this game we have only one war. So we won't be able to become stronger to crush the countries who defeated us like it was possible in EU4 or CK2. And lose during all the game can be a quite annoying, especially for choleric peoples like myself. So there isn't only good parts to Ironman.

But I think I will play with it for the achievements. And I will take the USA for my first game, so I can't really lose.

This is generally why I don't use ironman, tbh. That and beyond-player-control game-overs that really shouldn't be RNG but are, like back in the days of CK2 where adventurers would spawn with 10x your max levy with no feasible response.
