It`s so damn annoying to keep getting the casus belli pop up and short after you lose the casus belli so why not make the privateering casus belli last like 5 years? If a nation decides to privateer you they should be willing to go to war against you and I believe 5 years is a reasonable time to give me the chance to decide wether or not I wanna go to war against someone for privateering, plus I dont have the freaking pop ups every second.

Set ships to hunt pirates and you won't get it
Thats not true. You get the cb when someones privateers have at least 1% trade power in any of your active trade nodes. Considering the privateer efficiency penalty from fleets on hunt pirates mission in a node is additive, its extremely likely that the cb wont go away even if its 99%.

Precisely what's happening in my game. I'm hunting pirates and not getting the message as often as before, but I still get it now and then and thats when I know its time to increase the hunting fleet. Still really annoying I lose the casus belli as soon as the enemy ships move out of the node.

Privateering should either give you a long enough casus belli or the hunting fleet should engage the privateering fleet. The way it works now is just silly.

You can disable specific popups if you wish to ignore them. I do this to avoid getting the messages about Ethiopia moving its capital every so often which I really don't care about, for instance.
