How do I start a privateer war against Castile as England as I want to take their Atlantic islands. Do I simply send privateers to the Seville trade node or do I need to do something else. I want to use the naval blockade cb as I have a dominate navy but weaker army, suitable only for island sieging

I think I have seen pirate trade power that was not mine but every major naval power seams to not use it, however I think that will in the future be changed, it would make trade more intressting if other try to sabatoage it.

any way to get over 50 power projection in 1.8 without pirates? I am a land power...

I've heard support rebels brings up your power projection, but that just sounds like a waste of a diplomat when the revolt risk is going to be 0% regardless. Issuing embargos is a static power projection increase but not very much... going to war with a rival and using the "humilate" option is +30, but it degrades relatively quickly and you can't get a whole lot else from them when you do that.

Humilate is the best way to get PP, if you don't take anything else the truce should not last to long so you can keep humilate your rivals.

So I can't really use my navy to best effect without making my armies bigger. Then though I would have a problem with manpower.

Is there another way to use my navy is a bigger way than purely conquest? Could I potentially take Madeira, Azores and the Canaries without landing troops in Iberia?

Set 2 nations that are allied as rivals, DoW and take land from one while separate peacing the other with humiliate, then repeat the other way around next war. Easy PP.
