What we definitely need to do is to establish workers democracy in the state owned companies! this is going to make them more efficient (not in profit aspect, but in usefulness for the society aspect) and will be an example not only for the rest of the economy but also for the rest of the world that workers democracy in a high-industrialized economy is possible.

I agree Mr. Zuba. We can add into our manifest that the Party strongly supports worker-owned/operated enterprises. And that we will seek to establish more of them in a situation similar to Maritcon.

I would like to hear the other's opinion about worker-operated enterprises. this is a very important issue. If we have a few good working worker-operated enterprises (and I am convinced that they will work good, in terms of usefulness, not necesarry in terms of profit), the capitalists will lose any kind of legitimation and the working class of Eutopia will have a perspective of what can be reached.

If we want to put the selfadministration of all enterprises owned by state or trade union in our agenda then we of course need a majority in favor of within our platform and should then all vote the same in the parliament - and leave the idea for once if majority is against it.

by the way: does our trade union own any companies?

the ESRP, in Archie's day, experimented with SoCoh, a cooperative enterprise that would own book stores and the like; but failed to get much momentum after Archie was arrested.

I don't want to be fussy.. but having a company where the workers own a share of the stocks but the company is still run by managers with a command hierarchy won't make that much of a difference.

The point is self administration in workers committees.

In case of revolution, a working network of such committees, with regional and a national assemblies would be our counterpart to the burgeois state administration.

(but I still think that such workers self administration is important, even if we won't agree about aiming towards the revolution.)

But the managers will be appointed by and responsible to the "owners", which in this case would be the workers.

Example...in the capitalist system, the manager does what the owners "capitalists' tell them to do. Increase profits at the expense of the workers.

in the cooperative system, the manager does that the new owners want them to do. Example, maintain productivity through a safe work environment, good hours, vacation benefits, etc.

But we're getting bogged down in specifics right now. Any one else have comments?

There is a knock on the conference room door....

"Candygram!" announces a voice.

A security guard opens the door. He looks over the "candygram person." suspiciously. His hand hovering over the gun in his pocket. Since IKK's assassination, there has been much paranoia amongst the left.

"Can I help you?"

The security guard sees only the swoosh of a trench-coat (odd for such a warm summer) and the soles of running boots as the "Candygram Man" has already sprinted through the outer lobby and across the street shortly after his knock.

Looking down, the security guard sees what appears to be a container holding, according to the label, a quart of "Cherry Bomb" ice-cream. The container has been topped with a strange looking whipped cream and cherry.

It seems to be steaming in the warm weather.

The security guard stares at the man running away. Then looks down at the icecream.

In his best Homer Simpson style he says:

Free icecream Woo Hoo.

then he suddenly steps back a few feet.

Free icecream?

Turns to his superviser.

Mam, I think you better have a look at this. That cherry topping looks awfully like....

The stunned guard rolls over, belly covered in "whipped cream" and a "Cherry" with a wire. The crushed lid of the ice-cream container is torn enough to reveal a collection of electronic components, wire, and some long tubes that look like something less like a dairy product and more like an explosive.
