Before Dr. Voshkod can make it all the way back to Tilly's car, his phone starts to ring. A quick check on the caller ID indicates that the caller is using the "crippled phone" Voshkod gave to that Private Investigator fellow...

"Take your time, Doctor. I've got a phone call of my own to make." *He pauses.* "Oh, and fellas? Make sure those get back into police hands. I'd make you hand them over now, if I didn't think we were going to need them."
*Tilly gets back into his car, closes the door, and continues his radio conversation.* "Hankins? You'd better fingerprint whatever's left. Get blood samples for DNA testing, too. Start your investigation with EAL employees, and one Steve Whitsox. We can probably get fingerprints from the U.S. for him."
"These vats, were they marked? If they were used in the construction, were they Renard Rouge vats being carried on von Maazarin trucks?"
*He sets his radio to receive only and picks up the red phone.*

The cars are now mostly cleared away. The two-lanes heading toward the location Dr. Voshkod has identified as the way to the warehouse will be reduced to one lane as traffic winds around the wrecked truck, but at least it can proceed.
Outside of the MILE's car, the contraband weapons are collected, except from Voshkod and Lundgren, and carried away, while police cruisers and armored vans prepare to take the truck driver and the strikers down to the precinct HQ in Eutopia City.

*While speaking into the phone, Tilly expertly scribbles a note (he's a capable multitasker) and faxes it back. It reads:*
Yuri Voshkod stops next to Tilly's car, makes a mental note to change the ring tone to Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, and answers the phone.
"Mr. Vasquez, I presume," he says quietly. "Have you any news for me?"

"That depends, Senor...is this line secure?" The voice on the other end of the line is confident, but a bit quiet. "I do not have much, but...well, whatever your friend is in, he is up to his neck in it. And it stinks."
Voshkod takes a few steps away from Tilly's car. Maybe Shostakovich, or Mussgorsky, he thinks.
"As secure as such things can be, Mr. Vasquez. Go ahead."

"This man" begins Vasquez "he is not who he claims to be. You are familiar with the Witney von Vaam disappearance, yes? Shortly before she disappeared, she had a run-in with Senor von Maazarin at her gala dinner hosted by Charles Morgan. Talbott was there, as President at the time. Tilly was too, as well as Michael Lundgren and Charles Morgan, the host. Well, just before von Vaam stormed out of the building, she sees von Maazarin and says 'That's not von Maazarin.' Just after that, a reporter tries to take his picture, and his bodyguard smashes the camera and says, 'No pictures!'. I've run a check through nearly every record agency on the island, and there is not a single picture of von Maazarin anywhere at all. Text records are all there, but not a single damn picture.
After publically declaring that von Maazarin was *not* von Maazarin, von Vaam disappears. And interestingly enough, we have no photographic evidence to prove anything without a witness like von Vaam to identify him.
Finally, the police found a corpse at the airport in a von Maazarin truck. Turns out the fellow was Norwegian, a mid-level manager who did von Maazarin's filing and book-keeping...and for my money, someone who probably knew more than von Maazarin liked. I'm not sure about the Norwegian connection yet, but I'm looking into it. Whatever is going on, we have a very long trail of bodies to chase, that's for sure.

And with the speed of 1,000 Belgians, the wreck is finally cleared off so that one lane is open for the MILE and his convoy.

"Minister Tilly. There is something you may already know, but . . . just in case. I have it on good authority that the person we think is von Maazarin is an imposter. My source tells me that at Charles Morgan's party for Ms. von Vaam (to which I was not invited - a small oversight, I'm sure), Ms. von Vaam saw the fake von Maazarin and claimed that the von Maazarin she knew. Further, when a cameraman (the redoubtable Mr. Marine) took a photo of the fake von Maazarin, our imposter ordered the camera destroyed.
"So, perhaps finding our von Maazarin may also find the missing Ms. von Vaam, who has somehow eluded the police for so long."

However, be advised that von Maazarin's men may be equipped with assault rifles, possibly rocket launchers. I'm going to try to get us some carbines for your guys to use, if it comes to it. Meanwhile, make sure you kill the lights when we get into the area. I want our snipers in position before anyone knows we're dropping by for a visit."

There is an audible "gulp" over the radio as the MILE describes the armaments they may be facing, but the talk of reinforcements seem to calm the Convoy Leader. Per Dates has seen a lot of violence in his time.
He reiterates the intructions, to confirm they are clear, then proceeds with the orders:
-Kill the red-and-blues at five miles,
-Kill the headlights at a mile
-Drop speed
-Set up based on terrain (mostly flat, some hills to the west, forest coverage on North, South, and West)
- Bullhorn has been secured.
The convoy rolls on....

Tilly confirms the orders, but disbuses Dates of the notion that they're receiving reinforcements -- rather, he only mentioned rearmament. He apologizes, but the President hasn't given him authority to call out the army.
Then, thinking better of it, he radios Neuwestbaden SWAT and requests that they prepare for immediate deployment in the event their assistance is required.

OOC: Yes, it is... that is to say, Glasser authorized the army to assist Tilly by providing his SWAT teams with weapons, but he didn't authorize the army to actually intervene. Theoretically, Tilly could requisition a tank, but since presumably none of his SWAT guys could use it, there's not much point. I figured limiting my requests to rifles and a few rocket launchers would make more sense...
