PRIVATE - Police, OSI, et al. on the way to.....Small warehouse and surrounding areas

Tilly glances around, seeing that his fellows have departed, and speaks in a voice low enough to not be overheard by anyone but the driver locked in the truck:

"I *am* a lawyer. I'm also the MILE. As both, I can tell you you're going to be in serious trouble if you don't cooperate and tell me everything you know about von Maazarin's operation, this warehouse, these shipments, and anything else he's been up to. It's von Maazarin I'm after, not you, but I can make life awfully unpleasant for you if you don't cooperate right quick. Attempted murder with an unlicensed weapon is serious business. Maybe I can get Judge Anton to sit on your case... it could be part of his plea!"

As Tilly speaks to the driver, Voshkod walks around to the back of the wrecked truck and attempts to open it.

Because of his arrival with the MILE, the officers working to clear the truck from the road back off and let Dr. Voshkod by. They get to work clearing concrete and other debris from the road.

With a good tug the door comes open and inside the Russian sees several crates from "Aleknykyo Machine Supply, Georgia". It appears that von Maazarin was a little slow in picking up one of his shipments.

Behind him, he hears Lundgren approach....

"But I'm just a driver! I didn't do anything! These teamster goons ran me off the road for breaking their strike! I didn't do anything! Bwaaaaaaaaaaa heeeh heeeeeeeeeeeeh heeeeeeeeeeh!" comes the voice that starts sobbing uncontrollably.

Tilly wonders how practical this interrogation will be under these circumstances.

 

[Voshkod]

Voshkod racks his brain for any memory of Aleknykyo Machine Supply. Soviet Georgia, not American Georgia. Nothing good has ever come out of either one, though. He pulls out his pocket tool and starts pulling nails out.

"Mr. Lundgren: Find a crowbar."

*ml looks about for a few minutes and retreives a crowbar and heads over to help vosh*

 

[Voshkod]

As he begins to pull out nails, the radio Tilly handed him crackles to life, spewing static and news of the incident at the airport.

He turns, and calls over to Tilly. "Minister! I am not certain whether this is in your purview or not, but you may want to stop all outgoing traffic at New Lancaster Airport. If our friend von Maazarin is trying to stall us, perhaps he is also causing a disruption at the airport to cover his escape."

He turns back to the nails, almost certain as to what he will find.

*Tilly looks at the door, frowning.* "Dammit," he mutters. "I'm not usually that effective an interrogator."

*He hears Voshkod's shout and heads around to the back of the truck.* "The airport? Great." *He clicks on his radio.* "Stop all outgoing flights from NLIA, pronto. Why? Because I said so! Just make it happen. Whatever's going on, it's big. You already got a call from someone inside? A fight? Alright, get some units over there ASAP."

*He clicks off the radio.* "This could be going better, gentlemen. So, what's in the crates?"

 

[The_Hawk]

*Apparently having another thought, Tilly clicks on the radio again, not removing his eyes from the crate.* "Hey, make sure no EAL flights leave, in particular. And get someone over to their offices on the double. Also, get legal to file for a search warrant for EAL's offices, the stock market offices, and just in case it's necessary, this warehouse."

*Tilly sighs.* "God. I'm not looking forward to the paperwork this is going to generate."

 

[Voshkod]

"Paperwork," Yuri Voshkod grunts, as he pulls out another nail. "Bane of modern man. So, Minister Tilly, Mr. Lundgren, any wagers on what we shall find in this little box of Pandora? Here's my supposition: there is only one thing von Maazarin would want from Georgia. Weapons. I'll wager this crate is full of high-powered weaponry. Any takers?"

weaponry would seem the obvious choice but....we still dont know WHY he has a warehouse there so it could be anything really. even cooking grills

 

[The_Hawk]

"Well, it could be a bomb to blow us all sky-high..." *Tilly laughs, but it is high-pitched and nervous.*

 

[Voshkod]

Voshkod raps hard on the side of the crate with the crowbar. "Probably not a bomb, then," he says with a smile. "What's wrong, Minister Tilly? Afraid of dying?'

But before the MILE can respond to the Russian's question there is a loud crack, as the nails are torn loose from their boards by Voskod's crowbar and one of the Georgian crates opens revealing the good doctor to be an effective prophet: a whole cache of AK-47s and SA-7s spill out onto the street.

The clearing of the road, nearly complete, halts momentarily as the police and highway workers stop and stare at the small, but growing pile of arms and ordinance growing at the feet of the investigators.

 

[Voshkod]

Voshkod leans down and picks up an SA-7. He hefts it to his shoulder, depresses the trigger slightly, and hears the whine of the targeting system, seeking something to kill.

"So, Minister Tilly, have you called out the Army yet?"

He carefully puts down the missile launcher and steps away from the pile of weapons.

*Tilly lets out a low whistle. He finishes it with the rumble of an explosion.*

"Not good, gentlemen. Not good at all."

*He waves over the nearest officer clearing the road.* "Get these trucks out of the way, pronto, and then let our convoy through. Keep the driver and the strikers locked up, and get these weapons into evidence. Also, check the truck in case there's anything else."

"Doctor, Per Lundgren, if you'll wait here? I believe I have to make a phone call."

*Tilly heads back to his car. On the way the radio buzzed -- it's the team at the airport.*

"Tilly here. Whatcha got?"

The officers and highway workers work double-time and the road clearly proceeds rapidly. Soon the convoy will be able to continue.

Meanwhile, over the radio, the MILE is told:

"Chief? This is Hankins, in New Lancaster City. Problem over here...what? No, nothing to do with the President or the grand opening of the international airport expansion, most of my men were on detail over there and we were late responding to a fight in the old terminal....

No, nothing too serious. A bunch of striking teamsters got in a row with some EAL and von Maazarin employees. But here's the, um, problem.

The truck's cargo has spilled out all over the street outside the loading dock and.... no, nothing toxic, or at least, nothing like a chemical spill....well, anyway, we found somebody...or part of somebody...or somebody's parts. It's really difficult to tell."

"That's 'nothing too serious'?" *Tilly rolls his eyes, which fortunately Hankins cannot see.* "You'd better give me the rundown, Hankins. I need to report in to the Cabinet, and I'd wager this will be a part of it. Any idea who the corpse was? What he was doing there? Why he was being transported to the airport? Did the drivers have anything to say?"

*He pauses.* "Oh, and were any organs missing?"

"That's 'nothing too serious'?" *Tilly rolls his eyes, which fortunately Hankins cannot see.* "You'd better give me the rundown, Hankins. I need to report in to the Cabinet, and I'd wager this will be a part of it. Any idea who the corpse was? What he was doing there? Why he was being transported to the airport? Did the drivers have anything to say?"

*He pauses.* "Oh, and were any organs missing?"

"He's a John Doe, chief, no ID and no hands or head yet...oops, check that, we've got one hand, but it's missing some fingers. We might need some outside investigative help on this, but we're still working on it.

As for organs, no, he doesn't appear to be missing any. The torso is intact. Sort of. Well, technically, I guess the brain is an organ, but nothing like the donatable organs that have been stolen from the hospitals in the past seem to be missing.

Best we can tell, most of him had been sealed in some vats of industrial goo, looks like tar and runway sealant, and he was on his way to the dump. So he was on his way FROM the airport, not TO it. The drivers are no help. One of them fainted when confronted with the evidence and the other has been babbling like a little girl. I'd guess they didn't know what they were hauling, but even if they did, they're not the masterminds."

 

[Voshkod]

Voshkod leans down, picks up one of the AK-47s from the pile, and starts walking back with it toward Tilly's car.

"Minister? Mr. Lundgren? The road is almost clear, and I think we have an appointment with Mr. von Maazarin. It would not be polite to be late."
