Police, OSI, and others on the way to.....Small warehouse and surrounding areas

The purpose of this thread is for those heading to the "small warehouse and surrounding areas" to investigate the deaths of several OSI operatives to detail their actions, approach, and strategy.

Assume at this point, you are actually quite far away. No one may actually arrive at the "small warehouse" until they have GM approval. Several things must yet be revealed....some of them on the way to the site.

Also, it is easier to have all of this information in one place, rather than spread among various tea room, police offices, etc.

So please use this thread to continue your operations.

*Tilly's BMW catches up with the SWAT teams on the outskirts of Eutopia City. Together, they caravan through the darkness toward Neuwestbaden -- though given the urgency of their mission, their rate of travel is shockingly slow. *

 

[Voshkod]

Yuri Voshkod flips open his cell phone, dials his counsel's office. "Ah, Mr. Cohen. Make sure that you and your entire staff are available for the rest of the day, and into the night. We may need legal support quickly. Also, assemble the personnel files on all operatives that were legally" - he glances at Tilly - "subcontracted to, and under the control of, von Maazarin. Send them over to MILE when ready."

He hangs up, dials his chief of security. "Doyle! Make sure we have full retention on everything that goes over OSI comnet until further notice. I want everything recorded. Also, who the hell would be in charge of von Kaas' group if he were out? Henri Dessalines? The Haitian, right? Good."

He turns to Tilly. "I'll need a bullhorn when we arrive. I'll see if I can contact Dessalines."

He sits back in the seat. "Nice car, Minister. Can it go any faster?"

*ML is following with his 2 guards in his car*

"dang these guys sure are in a hurry arent they eddie?"

 

[Josephus I]

A small kid standing on the side of the road looks at this strange procession as it passes. He turns to his dad.

"Dad, why are those guys driving so slowly?"

Dad turns to his son.

"Must be the government, son. Nobody questions the way of our government."

The son nods in agreement.

"yeah. We learn in school that our government is slow at everything. Is it true, dad, we haven't had a budgie in over seven years?"

"that's budget son. Budget."

 

[The_Hawk]

"Well, you know, the armor plating slows it down a bit. Plus, we don't want to outrun those SWAT vans. That reminds me..."

*Tilly picks up the car's radio and requests information from the lead SWAT van. It crackles in response...*

"Minister? Captain Garrel Dates here, Eutopia City SWAT Command. As you requested, we rolled out the whole unit -- 60 men, including myself, our negotiator, eight snipers in four two-man sniper/observer teams, and the rest in ten groups of five men each -- element leader, scout, two assaulters, and a rear guard. We've got all the gear we need for whatever you've got planned -- rappelling tools, tear gas, riot shields, the works."

"Sounds good, Captain," Tilly replies. "Kill the red-and-blues at five miles, and the headlights at a mile. And drop to creep speed. We'll find someplace to set up where the folks inside don't know we're coming."

"Very good, sir. Any idea what we're up against?"

"No specifics, but it could be serious." Tilly shoots a glance at Voshkod. "These guys are trained with military hardware." A pause. "Oh, and Captain, we'll need a bullhorn."

"Roger that, sir. Dates out."

In seconds Tilly is on the phone to the MILE office. "Shaft? Send me all the files Voshkod's people are sending to you along to me on the car fax. Also, I'm going to need a topographical map of the area this warehouse is in. See if you can't dig one of those up."

He hangs up, and in a few moments the fax machine mounted in the back of the passenger-side seat starts chugging. Tilly grins. "I love technology."

(OOC: Heag, 60 men was the force strength of the original SWAT when it was formed in the '60s, before it was proven. Eutopia City is no LA, but I figure the value of such forces has been proven by now, so LA's is probably a lot bigger, while our's doesn't need to be. Feel free to trim it down a bit if need be.)

"So, Minister Tilly, given all that wonderful technology you have, perhaps you could have von Maazarin's file sent over. Is this behavior unusual for him? What do you know about him?

"One other thing that's been bothering me, since we're stuck in a car together - why are you letting SAW attack Comrade Sergei?"

 

[The_Hawk]

"SAW? Sergei? Comrade? I honestly don't know what you're talking about, Doctor. If you mean that business with the child pornography, that's the Eutopia City PD, not SAW."

"As for von Maazarin..." He holds up a thin file. "Everything I've got says he's normal enough. The only note in his file is to follow up with him in relation to the Whitsox investigation." He sighs. "I suppose, since he's dumping corpses out of helicopters, that we can do that in jail, now. Assuming he survives."

 

[Voshkod]

"Hmmm. You say it's Eutopia police, but I find it quite . . . coincidental . . . that, just after Sergei published his little screed, he is suddenly hit with these absurd charges. I fought the man once, you know, in a sports bar. He fought like a man, not like a creature that would enjoy . . . such things.

"You do know, of course, that the KGB, in it's latter days - when it could no longer pull people off the street - often resorts to such disgusting tactics.

"My point is this, Minister: Do you really know what SAW is doing?"

Tilly chuckles and leans back in his seat.

"I know you're newly come to Eutopia, Doctor, but trust me, Josephus has been linked to trouble for years. Maybe decades. I don't buy the child pornography thing any more than you do, but believe me, if SAW wanted to launch a massive investigation of Per Sergei, they'd be able to dig up more than some feeble charges like that."

"Now, how about that GCMR? Man, that Tulp guy really gets my goat... it's like trying to have a reasonable discussion with a brick wall."

 

[Voshkod]

"Ah, don't get me started on Tulp. I hope SAW is watching him; he's a little Caesar in the making. Of course, naval officers are rarely effective in launching coups. And I'm sure Sergei is involved in all manner of dark things; that doesn't mean that SAW doesn't have in interest in besmirching his reputation further.

"Perhaps I am just paranoid after so long dealing with KGB. I assume SAW is being well-entertained by monitoring me?

He turns serious for a moment.

"When we arrive, please give me an opportunity to speak to the OSI employees. Unless von Maazarin has offered them a great deal of money, I expect they will listen to me and leave."

The convoy slows to a halt. There seems to be a disturbance on the freeway up ahead, blocking traffic in both directions. In the distance, red and blue flashing lights can be seen.

"hey eddie, what you think this is all about?"

*ml picks up his phone and dials the car in front of him*

"HEY ya tilly? whats the hold up man, you know whats going on?"

 

[Voshkod]

Paranoia, thinks Yuri Voshkod, as he loosens his pistol for an easy draw, is a horrible curse. Even this fool von Maazarin won't attack the Minister. He watched carefully as the car neared the "accident" scene.

Tilly chuckles again. "Seeing a SAW agent behind every tree, Doctor? You worry too much. I know the ENDtech investigation was unpleasant for you, but it's in the past. Meanwhile, this isn't Russia -- there's no KGB agent on every street corner. If you need proof of that, look at SAW's budget line -- we couldn't afford them if we wanted to!"

He looks up as the phone rings. He answers. "Not sure, Mr. Lundgren. I'll look into it. Hang on."

Putting Lundgren on hold, Tilly picks up the radio. "HQ, patch me through to local dispatch. I need a report on any units they've got deployed along this road. Then have me patched through straight to the cars. I want to know what this holdup is all about."

*ml calls up vosh instead*

"hey voshkod! tell tilly we should just go around. he is mile anyways. maybe i am being too suspecious but maybe this is a diversion?"

 

[Voshkod]

"In this case, Minister, I am not worried about SAW. But von Maazarin has shown himself to be . . . resourceful. Better safe than sorry."

His phone rings. He holds a brief conversation.

"That was Mr. Lundgren. He recommends we just 'go around.'"

Tilly harumphs. "As you say, Doctor, better safe than sorry. I'll see what dispatch has to say first. Besides, Beamers don't offroad well. Low ground clearance, you know."

 

[Voshkod]

"Well, then, Minister, don't forget who you are. Pull across the median and find another way around. What will they do? Arrest you?"

Despite the Lundgren's suspect understanding of the BMW's off-road capabilites, and the Russian's questionable suggestion to drive through the concrete barrier separating the lanes, the MILE reaches, by police band radio a patrol man at the scene of the incident.

All traffic is now stopped, with many cars behind the MILE, including his convoy. The incident is about 200meters up the road.

"Looks like we've had some ugliness up here, sir <SQWARK!>" the voice says over the radio.

"Apparently some of the Teamsters are taking these Latin strikes pretty seriously. They've run some other strike-breaker trucker off the road, or since the shoulders on both sides of the high-way have guard rails, they've essentially forced him parallel, smashing one of the lane barriers and obstructing traffic in both directions.

Workers are trying to clear it away now, but the one truck is pretty damaged. Here's where it gets even better. The Latin thugs tried to drag the driver from the truck, and the guy pulled a weapon. No one was hurt, but there were reportedly shots fired.

I've got a bunch of Teamsters, from Isabella and Neuwestbadem locked up in one van, and the gun-toting driver from Von Margerine in another. <SQWARK!>"
