Ok, I might want to replace Liep. He said a bit about sharing Josephus' doubts on my leadership, though he seems overall much more friendly. He wants another speech from me. Granted, I'm giving one. It will include executive orders to the office of the MILE and not so subtle threats for the Reds to get in line before half of them go to jail and the other half go to hell.
You know, Vilms could be a good man for that job. Sure, he criticizes us, but he's been pretty quiet lately. In fact, he criticized more when I was doing a good job! I'll be fine with admitting, my second term performance was a let down to certain people. These certain people however, are mainly friends of the people who it was unpleasant for. Langley, not openly criticizing, but hinting that things could have been done better. They definitely could have. We should stop taking the shit from the ESRP. They have what, four members? They offer no support and almost no votes. From now on, they insult us, we strike back. The Moderate way may be the higher road, but can we afford to take that road all the time? We have been a sitting duck. I accept quite a bit of responcibility for that. But now, we're not going to be a sitting duck. We will be the wolf that mauls the people who are looking for the sitting duck!

I can't believe the chaos in our streets. Our administration actually goes out and DOES SOMETHING, as opposed to sitting by at ignoring what goes on and this is what happens? The people of Eutopia rally for a bunch of radical causes? Political enemies and allies alike sponsor armed revolutionaries and nasty demonstrations?
For what? What failure have we committed?
We have been more than fair and evenhanded and we get treated like effing dictators? Why? Because we actually try to STOP bombings? Because we actually try to STOP crime? We actually STOP tolerating open conspiracy and revolution?
Give the people what they deserve.
I have tried to be very diplomatic for the purpose of party unity, but now I can stand no more.
Our party leadership is completely remiss in its duties to support and defend our party. While others are organizing to build, if not rabidly attacking us, we sit content to take their abuse.
I am not talking about John, though I wish as president you could have provided more direction in some areas, but I respect the style you've chosen. I am talking about our Chairman, and I wish that, in his absence, our Deputy Chair would have taken a larger role.
This doesn't mean we have to attack our foes, but we COULD be contructively defending ourselve. This has not happened. Do we even HAVE a party spokesman?
Every day I am torn between the temptation to leave what is becoming a dying party and by the desire to wrest the reigns of this party we founded and worked so hard to grow and pull it back from disaster.
But maybe I'm mistaken, maybe somehow all of this is my fault for actually TRYING to do something.
John - Since our party leadership won't take up this idea, and since no one here has been willing to put any effort behind it, I'll leave this to you as my last advice to your presidential term....
The speech was fine, but you need to do more. Go out and START THE TOUR, this campaign I've been TRYING FOR WEEKS to get someone to agree with.
If not for the MP, then for YOU as president. Go out and do this:
1) Explain the problem
2) Explain what your rationale was for the solution (that apparently no one likes for whatever irrational reasons)
3) Admit "you people apparently don't like it"
4) Ask "Then how do we fix it?"
5) Listen to the response
6) Do whatever they say. If the results suck, they have no one to blame but themselves.
If people want to turn a traitor loose, fine, let a known criminal go.
If people want to blow the WET to hell with military force, fine. We tried. The people in the WET didn't cooperate, no one wanted to work with us, let them all kill each other.
Everyone supported the Gay Rights bill in parliament, but SOMEHOW the entire population seems to be against it. Either the supporters need to organize and counter them, or it should be left to die.
It pisses me off royally that we do so much for the EHA and Rebecca Cook, and she throws in and includes us in the "Marxist" crap. That's bullshit, plain and simple.
The left want's to hold a convention to reconsolidate? Fine, but why don't they do something practical like address the damned protestors who are protesting legislation THEY championed?
No, instead WE take the brunt of it.
And what the hell more does the left want anyway? We've given the ESRP more of their damned agenda then they could have every hoped to pass in the last two years than is conceivable, and yet they dare attack us? Screw them.
We've accepted a back seat on our priorities to help our supposed allies who've done nothing but use us to accomplish their goals.
John - go out and find out what the people want and give it to them. I CANNOT BELIEVE THE PUBLIC REACTIONS REPORTED IN THE NEWSLINK. Sane and rational people do not act this way. Something must be in our water.
If the tour doesn't give you enough commission public opinion polls (OOC: via Blade!) find out what people say and just do it. Will of the people, man, you are just their servant.
I am resigning my Deputy MILE post once I make some last investigative reports available. I am then going on sabaatical.
When I return I will assume the Attorney General's office and I will decide if I remain a member of this party.

I just had a frightening thought. Do we even have enough registered members to field a parliamentary ticket? I will go and check, but I'm not sure we do...

If Jack leaves, we will have 3 members. I warned everyone of this long ago. Hell, I warned other parties too. But all they saw was our bloated list of last term. I have never wanted to support the ESRP. They do nothing for us, but a lot against us. I've gotten nothing but opposition from them from day one. You know what? They say that I only hire party cronies? Might as well make it true. I'm firing Liep for being a part of the ESRP. Not hiding that fact. The ESRP doesn't support the administration, Liep supports the ESRP, he has made no comment that he disagrees, and he will not be rewarded for his lack of support. Michael will be MTEF for the rest of the term. This party was so grand at once, but now, all that once stood strong seems to be failing. I've opened up an office for the public to submit their opinions, and I shall take them. Once the MP is gone, I will see little hope of any party or coalition winning through against the Royalists and Conservatives. The left and right are in a race, going in opposite directions. Neither will win, but Eutopia will lose.

Sorry, weird problems have beset me [OOC: Accidentally changed my e-mail and then changed it back, but the forum wouldn’t let me post as a consequence!]. I am now back in full force. I am going to start busying up the MDIA and once the dust clears on this Vlaminck business will propose the WTO and MRC bills in Par…National Assembly. Expect a new Gazette soon…the reason, Jack, that it comes out so often is because there’s so much to report on!!
As for defending ourselves, I think I’ll write a letter to the editor. Half the country will see it, due to the paper’s popularity.
As to Liep, it will just draw more criticism. People will yell at us even more. It will be still another thing to defend ourselves against. We already have enough trouble.

Looks like the speaker is gonna try and stonewall me on the Airport Bill. What are our options for circumventing him? I've already cited the constitution and how he is in violation thereof, and shown his concerns irrelevant. He's clearly abusing his power. If I were MTEF I might be able to enact such projects without National Assembly approval anyway, but another socialist sits there. Can we impeach Borgman if he persists?
Probably not. The royalists would never help, as it benefits them that we fight. The CC may help, if only for desire to be rid of a Socialist speaker. The RD is very unlikely to support us on this. This is just one more example of the ESRP showing a complete lack of support. They have never, in all the history of our party, supported us, unless it benefited them more. You could say they helped put me in office, but I won by a large margin, one that covers far more than their votes. Also, the CPR was massively beneficial to them. A ministry and the Deputy Speakership, which I may add, both times resulted in their man becoming Speaker. What have we ever recieved from them? They will not ally us, I am told, regardless of what happens this term. Not to mention Liep himself has displayed no support or faith in myself or my administration. Also, is Timothy going to continue his post in the leadership? Is he even a citizen at the moment?
If it comes to that, I'd be happy to become party chairman.
About the ESRP: Let's see if we can rearrange the CPR into a RD-MP-EPP alliance. If the RD won't come we can court the ESRP, if only for election results.

I can combine my political experience with my technical expertise in a semi-governmental function in the United States. I always wanted to work in the USA and now that I can combine politicas and nuclear science, I have a golden opportunity.
I'm leaving for the USA in due time. From this moment on, I'm resigning from my position as chairman of the MP. I'll remain a member of parliament if the party so desires, this is up to the party to decide.
I would advice the members of the MP to consider John O'Floin as my successor, if a third term of President O'Floin is deemed undemocratic.
I wish to thank the party for it's trust in me, for the opportunites to serve the community it's membership provided, and for the great experience it has proven to be.

Well, I wrote Josephus about trying to get Borgman to drop his silly filibuster, and received no answer. I'd call my email respectful and civil on all counts, and was ignored. They talk a good talk about always being downtrodden, but their petty grudge-holding is sickening. I thought I could at least respect and work with Josephus, but clearly not.
