I think that's a mistake, as they are probably the most ideologically similar to where we are.

Well, the president does own the race-track. If he has time, he would probably be the best. I probably would not represent the party's views very well, as my religious views on this issue are probably in conflict with the party's philosophy.

Fitzpatrick is doubtlessly our best possible candidate (myself aside of course ) so I'd say we push him for president. (OOC: I think he said he'd be back in early September, and Mel said the elections won't be until mid-september, so that should work out) But if we can't get him, then who? And if it were given to the MP, who would that be? We're going to have to answer these questions, but we can't answer them by ourselves, and we still have some time. Back to the subject. I've offered myself to the Gambling commission. Though I'd be on it anyway, this way I'll remain on after my days as president are over.

I have spoken my opinion in Parliament. We need to make sure this isn't a hoax, but that this is real--before we act. When we do act, we can send in police or special forces--we don't necessarily have to pay up.

Mr. President, I am of the personal belief that if we start negotiating with terrorists then we legitimize their actions. That is, other terrorists groups will see a quick and simple way to cash in.

Look at how often citizens of some nations are targetted for kidnapping because their governments are known to capitulate.

This is a very, very dangerous precedent I don't feel we should set.

We talked quite a bit about this "listening tour" and taking our message to the people.

Are we going to do that?

It seems to me that some of these questions might best be answered by taking them to the people and getting their voice on it. Then we can decide based upon their input.

Now that we are closer to having a message, I can easily organize this.

Say the word and I'll set it up, or I can wait for someone else to take the lead on it.

Looks like the RD has beat us to the punch in terms of getting an open message and convention out to voters.

I still believe this is a good idea, but I think we lose a LOT of potential but not being out their FIRST with this idea.


I have to admit I am a bit disappointed with the Moderate Party.


Understandably, I know members cannot put the same time into that I have been blessed to do. I was worried that my constant presence and work may have been stifling the creativity of others and, given recent health problems, believed that a change would be healthy for us.

However, while I am perfectly happy to do things a different way, someone else's way, part of that requires that we DO THINGS.

I have even volunteered to do most of the grunt work, setting up projects on our platform, on this convention, etc. All I have asked for is some feedback and participation.

I appreciate those that have commented or offered to help, but now I am at a loss: Things need to get done and they are not getting done. Do you want me to take up the burden and do them or do you want me to stand back and leave it for others?

I still believe we are the best party in Eutopia and I am proud of our individual accomplishments, but I feel that we need more ownership of the party by our members and more participation in party activities.

You may disagree and think that things are running well. I can respect that, but I am not willing to sit here and let others take potshots at us without us defending ourselves.

We need to actively build our base of allies and to push our agenda. Otherwise, what good is a party?

Jack, I don't think your involvement or voice, no matter how extensive, ever stifled anyone here. Rather I think it empowered us and helped us get things done. I haven't been saying much because I feel a little stupid saying "I agree" all the time, and I do. I guess that's why I joined this party in the first place...

But I digress. I like the whole "take it to the people" thing, and I don't think the RD has necessarily beat us to the punch. I think they're doing mostly an open forum for party members and such, while the thing I was envisioning was more like an almost campaign, taking this to the common voter and all. Anyway, I like it, and think if anyone is qualified to run it and you want to do it, go for it.

And I also believe that we cannot negotiate with terrorists, lest every crazy with a machine gun and a compound in the woods starts taking people hostage and demanding cash.

I'm going to push Liep again for his comments on Josephus' call for my resignation. We're facing criticism, however slight, from the RD about the lack of a budget. Liep was given little encouragement to do work, but he also took no initiative.

I agree, negotiating with terrorists is a bad policy. We have no evidence except Vlaminck's note, but I do not doubt it possible that it could be forged.

I have some more elaborate theories about this, but I'm keeping them quiet for the moment.

Okay, I'll need to resign my Deputy MILE post soon, but I'll still have a role in the courts.

You should send a copy of the Eutopian constitution to MTEF with the role of the office it relates to the budget. I have, myself, prodded the Minister for ANY hint of a budet recommendation and gotten nothing.

If the ESRP attacks on the MP continue, I would be in favor of replacing them. Enough is enough. Why the hell are they attacking us? We take all kinds of crap just for being allied with them, being branded as "marxists" and "commie sympathizers"! We have also supported every legislative initiative of theirs and gotten little support from them in return!

Perhaps the EEP would have a good replacement? That way we balance the left and right with 2 ministers apiece?

Or, if you want to go really radical? Nominate Konstantin Vilms. He's a devout monarchist, sure, but despite his parties uncontrollable urge to spend money he has seemed, lately, to be quite fiscally responsible. I've been impressed with his stewardship of the budget in parliament and in the Higher Education Committee.

There's no way the CRE and MP, as parties, could reconcile their differences on the monarchy issue, but if you are looking for a good individual who would likely do a good job, Vilms could do it.

Think about it, but see if the EEP is interested, and you may want to get the RD's input too. They will likely stand by the ESRP, because they feel they have to, even though they, too, have been coming under fire for not being "left enough".

The party needs to do more to defend itself and compete for the hearts and minds of Eutopia's voters.

Also, John and Jack, I think we need to really accelerate the whole de Vlaminck thing. If they're really cutting him into bits and really gonna kill him in two days (can we risk calling their bluff?) we need to pinpoint their location and send in the SWAT team pronto. After everything else that's happened, if we look like we're dragging our feet on this one, it will be a public relations NIGHTMARE.

With only 48 hours to burn, and a lot of Eutopians to convince we're not dawdling, I don't think we can wait for the NA to approve any sort of course of action. I think you're going to have to issue the order, reassure the nation, and see to it that shit gets done FAST.

I will. Hell, I tried to. I put in a resolution in Parliament, so if nothing else, those idiots can't blame our party for dragging its feet. I'm pissed as hell too about the whole military tribunal crap...we compile boatloads of evidence that Hartwell is fomenting a rebellion in the armed forces, and that he has co-conspirators in the forces, and then we hand him over to those people?!?
