Well, I listed environmental issues as a central area of concern. Admittedly, they didn't make it on my list of six high priority items, :) but that list certainly isn't the final word.

Part of the reason I was asking for feedback was to see which items from the legislative programme I suggested are viewed as high priority by RD-members (since we won't be able to cover all of them in the upcoming term). Ideally, everybody would list their own six items, I'd cobble together a preliminary list from that, and then take that list into discussions with the ESRP. :)
MMDS, can you set up a seperate Environmental ministry? It is something that isn;'t just important for EUtopia but the world :)
The Constitution limits the number of Ministries to four.

Just to get us started, I thought I'd copy my own list of high priority items from the ESRP CO. :)

- workers' rights
- same sex rights
- minority rights
- abortion
- death penalty
- welfare reform

I agree that these are all important issues, but in my opinion, the welfare reform should be the number one priority. And I also think, that almost all of the other issues can be interlinked with the welfare reform. Everything but the death penalty, actually. We need to focus on the welfare of the people before we use ressources on secondary matters. When the welfare is high enough, I think we would have an easier go at things like minority rights, abortion etc.

To avoid any misunderstandings: as I said in the ESRP CO, my list is presented in no particular order. :)

You may have to explain the linkage a bit more.

On a different note, I wouldn't necessarily describe same sex rights, minority rights etc. as "secondary matters" - quite the opposite (which is obviously why they are included in my list :)).

death penalty is a very import item true but this could be put in second plan. Was you know the other paries in the oposition are Pro-death penalty, this would make allmost imposibel to pass that bill, and some thing most be done first. I think that a enviromental bill composing of all this three

-passing strict laws for the protection of our environment, including stiff penalties for breaking them (financial penalties, jail terms)
- making sure the MHA has the material capacity to stringently enforce environmental laws
- taxing the emission of pollutants

this could be called the "ENVIROMENTAL BILL". I beleive that this would pass in the parliament in 2 seconds ;)

Just a thought

EDIT: I just copy the "Enviromental bill" from the ESRP CO

Ok guys, it's official. Our candidates for the ministry posistions are:

METI/VP: Josephus
MDIA: Shiiuga

I guess that's ok with you?

That's fine with me. If nobody within the RD objects, I will make those appointments official within a few days.

RD-members: can the people interested in the other positions (MDA & MHSA) formally apply for the job. I want to form the Government as soon as possible. Thanks.

MMDS

That is okay for me!

I really would like to see some new people from the RD to be Ministers ( this mean nor I or MMDS ). Still I must be sincere and say that I would like to be a minister again. But some of you probably want that position was well! So People let's apply for the position!!!!

If nobody want to a minister ( ?!?!?! ) I would like to be MDA. please Mr. President.

Well im against it, minister and MP maybe. But the VP is a very important position and shouldnt be crossed over. Nothing against Jos, just i think 2 positions like that shouldnt be taken by one person.

read it; liked it.

my top 6 priorities:

-environmental laws
-same sex rights
-worker's rights
-death penalty
-minority rights
-welfare reforms

I think abortion is important, but i'd personally like to get the environment sorted out, before there is even a possibility of a right-wing government taking office. :)

Also, whre do I apply for the METI job?

Enviroment is with the MDA I think, METI only controls the natural resurses. not the rest!! I know it's strange!

I understand why! Normally the economy is the enemy of the enviroment and vice-versa

so joining the the 2 in the same minister isn't a good idiea ;)

[OOC] and by making them seperate that could make some Economy VS enviroment WAR!!!!! :D :D [/OOC]

MDIA is defense and international affairs, so it has nothing to do with the environment. Among the existing Ministries, METI is probably the best fit.

However: the Constitution doesn't specify which portfolio Environment belongs to; to my mind, this means that the President can exercise discretion in deciding who to assign it to. Frankly, I share the misgivings about assigning it to METI. If we want to underline that we consider the environment a top priority, my suggestion would be simply this: add it to the presidential portfolio, along with Finance.

METI has been offered to the ESRP. The RD will control MHA and MHSA.
