On the third floor of the General Assembly building, a large but secluded office houses the offices of the Speaker of the General Assembly. Located exactly halfway in between the General Assembly and the Senate (directly across the Atrium from the offices of the Speaker of the Senate), on the east side of the building, the office sports magnificent views of downtown Eutopia City.

Any business that needs to be conducted with Prof. Talbott in private in his role as Speaker of the General Assembly should be conducted here.

Per Speaker,

The Court bids you congratulations on your election. We have two pieces of business to be placed before the General Assembly presently: the nomination of Judge Eusebius Bosch to the High Court to replace Justice Dravidasthas, and the nomination of your replacement as Commissioner of Justice, with Hawkton J. Tilly as our foremost nominee.

As the good functioning of the judicial branch is contingent on these positions being filled, we would ask you to consider them with all speed. However, as per our order, voting may not be conducted on these matters prior to 2/18. You may consult our order here if you have further questions.

We would also remind you of your constitutional duty to select a Deputy Speaker with all speed, as well as the backlog of business which accrued under your predecessor. We have no doubt that these will be dealt with in an expeditious fashion.

O'Floinn enters the Speaker's office, an almost amused look on his face. Sitting down at the desk formerly occupied by Talbott, he reads the High Court's note and then sends out a few notes of his own. After staying upwards of another hour he hurries downstairs to the main Assembly room.

Per O'Floinn...Congratulations. I'm sure the GA is in good hands. I'd like to seek permission to make a speech at the opening of the "new" GA. It won't be political in nature, (Ie...not one pushing an agenda), but purely a motivational one.

Hi John. Congratulations on your win. Before the GA just kinda lost steam and stopped functioning, there was the issue of the VAT. I suggest we conclude this business before we get started with anything else.

I would be glad to conclude the VAT. However, I would like to get at least a brief projection from the ECB on the most likely results of the VAT's implementation. As far as I am aware, no such figures have been produced thus far, and I believe it would be unwise not to utilize such a resource when it comes to this type of decision.

Per Speaker,

I appreciate that running the GA can sometimes be more difficult than herding cats, but the proper function of FLEA depends on a responsive Commisioner of Justice, for matters of search warrants and the like, a process that worked very smoothly while you were in that role. In the interegnum, I am afraid that things are not functioning as smoothly as when you were in charge. I have the upmost confidence that Per Tilly will be able to approach that level of efficiency, once confirmed, but that depends on the GA. Therefore, I would sincerely appreciate it if the GA's part in that process could be expedited.

Given the fluid nature of the current situation and the possibility of other attacks on the government of Eutopia, I recommend that a quorum of Assembly members adjourn to Facility Seven to ensure the continuity of the Eutopian legislature. I can have two helicopters to your location within the hour, and I can ensure that communications will be maintained between the continuity cadre and the other Assembly members.

MIDA Loic de Fourgéres drops off eight bullet proof vests for use by the MGAs. (MGA Rashaad can pick his up at the cabinet office.)
"Per Speaker, our MGAs are vital to the continuity of government. Until such time as the level of violence recedes, please accept the loan of these bullet proof vests from FLEA. I hope the GA treats favorably the soon to be proposed increased funding for security measures. I have guessed on the sizes. If I guessed wrong, then please have whoever has the wrong size drop by MIDA to exchange it."

(OOC: Players wishing to establish that their eligible characters are wearing bulletproof vests should post that they have picked them up, etc.)

Loic then goes back to MIDA, and picks up ten of the standard issue bulletproof vests, nine of which he delivers to the Senate and the other to the Commissioner of Justice.

Coming from the General Assembly, Loic is able to enter the General Assembly building through the rear while the civil unrest is still relatively subdued. However, by the time he attempts to leave, the level of violence has increased considerably, and the sergeant-at-arms moves to block Loic's exit. Going out there, he suggests, "would not be a good idea."

Loic takes the securitypers advice, calls someone at MIDA to get the other bulletproof vests delivered, when safe, asks whether there is an underground passageway out, and if not 'borrows' a desk in an interior office.
