Environment
The preservation of the environment is of utmost importance, as a good and health in the present will be beneficial for the future. Preservation of our world mainly means the control and decline of garbage and other waste.
Toxics, plastics and other products that conduct serious damage to the environment should be banned immediately. Recyclable products should be recycled in an effective way, and methods for recycling should be found for products that are still thrown away. Clean substitutes should be found for non-renewable resources. Eutopia should take a head position when it comes to these new products, if only by the fact that demand for these products will undoubtedly grow in the next decennia.
A clean air means a clean environment, healthy agriculture and of course a healthy life standard. Companies and factories that pollute and/or make polluting products should get financial penalties like air taxes. In return, clean and resource-efficient companies and products (like cars) should have (financial) advantages. The government should also be also to subsidise companies who invest in a cleaner production.
The government should encourage people to be fuel and energy-efficient, and should also encourage people to buy ‘green’ products. Factory farms should also get financial disadvantages, while ‘animal-friendly’ products should be subsided. The government should be able to state (temporal) fishing quota’s in certain parts of the ocean, to preserve certain species, or to make sure parts are not totally fished empty.
Polluting coal and oil power plants should be replaced by wind- and solar plants, and research should be conducted on alternative energy sources, like earth heat.
Instead of building more and more roads and airfields, the government should focus on public transportation. The rail network should get a major upgrade. Busses, trams and (possibly) subways should get improved to decline traffic in the cities. Express trains or trams should be laid between business districts/city centres and suburban areas to encourage going to work by train. Public transportation should be funded by the government and should possibly even be free, so that it would be beneficial to use public transportation instead of own transportation.
A rough sketch, gentlemen. I could certainly use some feedback.
