See? We're actually much further along than we thought....
1) Amric - One of the CPR platform planks it stronger, yet sensible, environmental regulation. Please bring us your proposals and hopefully some members of parliament will introduce them. I can't remember if a minister can introduce bills anymore or not?
2) Vasco - Yes, I think everyone agrees with anti-terrorism. We need a catalyst to take action on this. Whether it is the President, Commission on Terror members, or our MoP's, we need to ressurrect past proposals, discuss them and introduce them. This was one of our planks, too, and if we can do something about it we have proved we are effective.
Also, we need to more about Financesbut this is difficult. We had serious budget discusions in the higher education committee before the death of Mr. Hamilton. We need a new budget, but this is very complicated. I have asked MTEF Liep for his recommendations, but I understand he was been travelling as well. Perhaps he could be aided by a Deputy who could help in this task?
3) Charles - Excellent work on the MRC report. What are your recommendations, though, about how we pay for it or what we can and cannot do. This, AGAIN

is one of our platform issues and something we should act on if possible.
I would make a suggestion that, since some of these military purchases are one-time expenses, and not recurring budget costs, that we could even consider some short term government bonds to finance their purchase. We should only do this in limited scope, but if a ship will serve us for forty years there is no reason why we should pay for it all at once. Let us issue the bonds so that we can purchase it immediately, but pay the bonds off over the lifetime (or a portion of the life-time) of the equipment. Just like we would finance the purchase of a car, rather than paying for it all at once.
4) Josephus - You make an excellent point, which is what to do about a new militant royalist threat. They have claimed the lives of several Eutopians, including our friend Elijah. While we shouldn't be blindly vengeful, nor should we try to blame the CRE for this, it clearly reinforces the importance of preserving our Republic, and what a threat some royalists pose.
LAST MAIN POINT: For all of our good ideas, they are only good if we act on them. For most of these, we need legislation in parliament. Take a look at the parliament and see how few bills have passed. See how few have been written by CPR members.
We need a record that we can stand on, and it is time for every CPR MoP to stand up and take action.
Develop solutions, discuss them here, and let's get them adopted into law.
If there is no more discussion about the Airport Legislation can we introduce that now?
