You seem to indicate such a thing in your latest speech as there are no other Eutopian Defense Industries except the national ENDTech.

"I had never really considered it, Admiral. It was just an illustrative point. I in no way pretended to represent the broad-sweep of CUE opinion."

Hapsburg speaks with a weariness in his voice:
'I have been told by Per Strasse that, for the sake of Party unity, it is recommended that I withdraw my Vice-Presidential candidacy, while retaining my name on the GA slate. I would like to put this matter to a vote.

"No. I certainly didn't say that. I said that it would be better if you didn't appear on Eutopia Tonight! As I have communicated to you in a private message, I simply considered that you had more to lose from his word twisting. On no account do I want you to withdraw from the contest."

Election Special: CUE

Now we get to the good stuff, the Conservative Union of Eutopia. Does it seem to our readers that the CUE seems like the Fascist Parties of old? Take for example this ETE Propoganda Poster:

Does this archaic thing of the past sound like:

We represent true Eutopianism, for the CUE accepts all its inhabitants, heck, we even are magnanimous enough to tolerate the ESA!!!! The UMP's proposals are proposand to twiddle their collective thumbs, while the Socialists will destroy everything you and I hold dear - family, heritage, diversity, life, and prosperity. They want nothing more than a rouge, million-man-army state of bland sameness. Yet the UMP is willing to side with them and their perverted pseudo-egalitarianism. If you want a proper, civilised government, then remember these three letters at the ballot box: CUE! CUE! CUE!

And does that sound like:

Quote:

It seems that the CUE are spouting a load of, sorry to be so frank, crap to get them out of their prediciment. They have campaigned little on issues other than the UMP being in bed with Socialism, and came late to the field because of what? Inactivity! That's right, the CUE was the most inactive Party in the GA this Term, so why are they saying:

Quote:

When they had done even less? Where was Oliver Strasse this term? Where was Roger Forbes this term? Where was Francis Von Hapsburg this term? It seems to be they have no substance, but only, wait! They don't have style either, they call all their opponents "Psuedo-Socialist Pigs"! If you want rampant Socialist-haters who's solution to everythig is to sing the national anthem, then vote CUE, though they might dissapear halfway through office. If you want a responsible moderate party with good ideas and a record of activity, vote UMP.

That is exactly the sort of claptrap that we believe should be stamped out, Mr. Habsburg.

"I am disappointed. Of course I take some of the blame for this hideous defeat, but with all honesty I never thought we had much of a chance anyway. Our party was clearly disorganised, without one common purpose and without one clear platform on which we could run.

Unfortunately this led to certain party members thinking we espoused ideas that are completely alien to our party. I do not blame them - if they weren't to know better, it was not their fault - but I do blame the party. And the party needs to reform.

I think first we need new leadership elections. I must make it clear that I will not be running for leader - my trust is still behind Professor Talbott. I simply think that this party needs to divide before it can be united under a democratic leader.

Second, I think we need to majorly reform our party platform. Clearly many of our current members were not around when it was forged - if we can agree on the changes and relaunch the party, I think we can become an electoral force once again.

And third, I think we need to give party offices to all our members. I see no reason why one person should not have responsibility for our economic position, or someone else for our environmental position. Perhaps we should create shadow-ministerial roles or even introduce an alternative budget when the UMP launch their real one.

What does everyone think?"

Mr. Strasse, you give yourself far too little credit. You've been the one out there, actively managing things while I've been feeling sorry for myself.

I've been invited to join the cabinet, and I plan to take up that offer. I know it will be aiding and abetting a UMP administration, but Fourgères is not Josephus...and we need as active a cabinet as we can get. Heck, if I'm a prominent and active cabinet minister, we could even pull off a Fourgères next term.

The cabinet post will keep me busy, however. Mr. Strasse, you have proven yourself more than able. If you want the Chairmanship of this party, my seat in the GA, or both, you are more than free to have them.

"Oh no, I certainly think you should work with the UMP. We're already isolated enough, without having to withdraw totally into opposition. Indeed, as you say, do your best and we may have a chance at the Presidency next time around.

But as you say, you will be busy. I will take you up on your offer of the GA seat. But as for the Chairmanship of the party, I certainly don't want to deprive you of a position that you deserve, but equally don't want you to feel as if I am not willing to step up to the mark.

I see two options. One, you remain Chairman, and do your best as a member of the Cabinet, appointing me as Deputy Chairman and GA Member. Two, I become Chairman and GA Member, appointing you as Deputy. It's your call. I'm easy both ways."

Mr. Strasse, the Chairmanship is yours.

I'm getting too old to do the kind of political rallying I used to do.

" I wholly support Strasse in his chairmanship. I would push for a shadow MDIS, if the honorable members of the Party consent to shadow ministers. Also, perhaps we could put intraparty matters to a vote, much like a comitte/primary system?"
