Prof. P.G. Talbott,

Brig. Gen. D. Haynes

There is no point adding other members to the list as they all seemed to have abandoned us, I put myself as third as I do not have the time to give my full attention to the NA, which is quite unfortunate and the main reason I retired from the Air Force a while back, but as we know events brought me back in... After events die down I may consider retirement again, not to sure... I'll deal with that when the time comes.

Gen Haynes

OK!How about using WET and USA as election weapon. Government isn't very popular currently because people feels that Langley's government isn't doing enough to get americans out of our territory.Unfortunate that rest of members have abandoned us:(

You do bring up a good point, Captain. I hate to be so...politic-y, though. Right before von Streusser returned, I woke up one day, looked myself in the mirror, and realized that I was a politician...very scary experience.

In any event, I think that we'll run, like we always do, on the merits of our position. If we boost some things more than others...well thats just natural. I think that one of those merits is our pragmatic stand on the Farpoint issue.

In any event, Captain, the elections are a good deal of time from now, so I think formulating all our "campaign strategies" is rather moot. The Farpoint issue could completely resolve itself in a manner amenable to everyone...unlikely, but possible.

So they'll be held a good deal after Christmas, eh? That's good to hear. I'll be getting married to our Press Manager, Miss Jenkins, on the 19th, and will be away on honeymoon for two weeks thereafter [OOC: not getting married in RL...just going on vacation]. I wouldn't want the election to fall in the midst of my honeymoon.

Congratulations of the wedding Professor!
On the issue of election campaign, it wouldnt be too wise to condemn the United States too much in my opinion...
It would be more wise to promote putting a stop to terrorism, for it is the acts of the terrorists and the governments failure to prevent their acts that led to the current situation, we should campaign for a safer Eutopia, and to work with the US in order to put a end to terrorism in our nation.
If we campaign against the US we will be labelled anti-US, which would damage trade and our military, if the Military Reform Bill ever reaches parliament then it will depend on close ties to the US.
The United States is not our enemy, the terrorists, MEOR, and the Eco Fascists are. Lets deal with them first.
But as Prof. Talbott said, the elections are a long time away...

I think our overall general policy towards the US since the beginnings of the Farpoint incident have been one of moderation; we see that being gratuitously anti-American is simply stupid, and that good relationships with the US are important, but we must make our status as a sovereign nation clear as well--moderation is key here.

Hmmm, our membership seems to be lacking
Professor Talbott, seeing that our current Deputy Chairman, Mr. Adam Julseau hasnt been around for quite a long time I would suggest that you take the role of deputy, that is if there is no objections from anyone else...
It would be good to have a secure chain of command, especially after recent events, its madness I tell ya!

Hmmm, I think it would be wise to review our platform in the near future and modify it, I was thinking of adding some issues such as Terrorism and the issue of Monarchy and also elaborating on existing points and even changing some things if the need arises.
So may I ask that at some point soon all members read our Platform and consider any changes or additions that you feel should be made.

Thank you
Haynes hands out copies of the CC's platform out to the members

I feel that some points should be added, mainly our policy on Terrorism and also some minor point about the issue of Monarchy.
Also some social issues, the Homosexuality Reform Bill caused quite a stir in the country, quite simply many people do not want this! Point 3 of the Bill causes most concern.

3) The Eutopian government will recognize the legality of a 'civil union', which shall impart the same legal status as marriage (inlcluding but not limited to: inheritence, taxation, co-ownership of property, child custody, etc.) upon any couples, regardless of gender, so joined. The government shall not require church consent for such unions. Likewise, the government will not mandate any change of church doctrine concerning their recognition of marriages.

Marriage is a sacred and holy affair, allowing peoples of the same sex to be regarded as being marriage is a disgrace! And Child-Inheritance! Did anyone raise any questions about how a child being raised by a homosexual couple could affect the child? There are many questions that are raised, pyschologicaly this could effect the child tremendously, this bill should be repealed or at least the 3rd part of it should be removed. It is the moral thing to do. (OOC: Just to state these are IC views, in real life I am a very liberal person and wouldnt mind if such a bill was passed, would be quite happy actualy, its just that Haynes as a asshole ;))

And one other issue which is partically of intrest to my line of work, maybe this can be resolved in a national assembly bill or something.
The military chain of command, as it stands only a Lt. General/Vice Admiral can be Commander In Chief, and there may be only one Lt. General/Vice Admiral but as is the current situation what happens when the Lt. General/Vice Admirall has been relived of command but not demoted or discharged? Chaos!
In such a event there should be some legilslation that makes the next in the chain of command become a temporary Commander in Chief of that branch until the situation resolves itself.

A further modification would be that the Chief of Army/Navy/Air Force can be held by any officer with the rank of:

Lt General/Vice Admiral
Mj General/Rear Admiral
Brigadeer General/Commodore

Instead of the traditional Lt. General/Vice Admiral, of course the Chief would be the highest ranking.

Our Platform for your convenience
Conservative Coaltion Platform

The Role of Government - We believe in small government and minimal regulation. The primary duties of the government are to protect its citizens from crime, discrimination, foreign invaders, and the invasion of personal rights. Taxes should also be kept to a minimum.

Taxation - Taxes should not be used for the purpose of redistributing wealth. Such a system drains away the personal initiative that all free market economies depend upon. Those that work hard and are successful should be rewarded for their efforts.

National Defense - Our military is sadly out of date, in equipment, tactics, and command structure. We need to commit to a large scale modernization program. Such a program will take additional funding, but taxes will not be raised. The modernization program will be gradual and spread out to ease the fiscal burden.

Crime and Law Enforcement - Crime needs to be strongly addressed. Though we do not wish to live in a police state, our police must be given the tools and the freedom to pursue and capture dangerous criminals that threaten our society. The death penalty is a viable option, but reserved only for extreme cases.

Business Regulation - Business should be regulated to prevent exploitation of workers and the environment. Business should not be crippled by the burden of excessive and unnecessary government regulation. The government should be an invisible guiding hand, not an iron fist in the free market.

The Right To Bear Arms - The right to bear arms is essential to a free people. The right to defend one's life, family, and property is as basic as freedom of speech or religion.

Religious Rights - Separation of church and state is the key to religious freedom for all, but not separation of church from state. Those who believe should have equal access to state facilities and the right to practice their faith in public unless said practice physically endangers non-practicers. We also believe in the Government being able to utilize faith-based institutions, of all denominations and sects, to protect the underclass, educate, and encourage unity and community.

Peaceful Transition of Power - Representative government and the peaceful transfer of power are essential to Eutopia. Changes must occur within the system in place. Radical, revolutionary practices are not only dangerous but immoral.

Free Exchange of Ideas - The free exchange of ideas is vital to any society. The Conservative Coalition has under it a wide variety of ideas from across the political spectrum. We are united by belief that small government is best, the need for strong personal freedoms, and the ideas of law and order.

No objections! You guys have been longer in the CC than i have. And the platform is quite good, but i think we should add some parts:monarchy, homosexuality, terrorism etc.Have you seen this? What do ya think?I think it's too strict. I mean, automatic firearms?Glock 19 fires 3-shot bursts(OOC:at least in CS:D)Also, permit revoked on felony charge?Does it mean like parking ticket?I think after 3 times would be better. This would not apply to terrorism, homicides armed robberies narcotics etc.

Ah, got to the Regulations of Firearms Act before I did!
I was going to bring this up myself.

This cannot be allowed to pass! The right to bear arms in self defense is a basic liberty,

The Right To Bear Arms - The right to bear arms is essential to a free people. The right to defend one's life, family, and property is as basic as freedom of speech or religion.

This proposed bill will severly limit the freedom to bear arms. I shall point out some aspects I am particually opposed to.

A firearms license shall be good for a five year period. After which, the applicant must take and complete a ten hour refresher course on gun use
So every Five years I have to spend 10 hours learning how to use my gun, even though I've known how to operate it and how to use it safely since I was a kid, disgraceful!

A firearms license shall be revoked for any of the following reasons:
1. Conviction of any felony charge.
2. Conviction of any violent crime.
3. Conviction of three misdemeanors.
4. Evidence of gross negligence pertaining to firearms.

So if am charged for say, failing to pay for a parking fine 3 times this means I am not allowed to have my gun?

All permits shall coincide with the length of the current Firearms License, and must be renewed when the Firearms License is renewed.
A license should stay in act indefinetly, what if someone aqcuires a gun liscense and a month later this act gets changed? You will need to get another license and spend another 15 hours learning how to use a gun yet again, and the Class IV gun license, you would need to spend 100 Ducats on getting a new one!

Class A Permit. Shall allow the holder to carry any firearms they are legally allowed to possess in a concealed manner.
In order to obtain such a permit, the applicant must not have a single conviction of felony or violent crime. Furthermore, no such charges may be pending. Also an additional ten hour course on gun safety must be completed. This course is the same as the course used for Class B and Class C. Holders of multilple permits will only be required to take the course once.

Yet again the stupidity of this bill rears its ugly head, not a single conviction?! So for some reason I am caught going 10 MPH over the speed limit and am convicted for speeding or dangerous driving, this means I am not responsible to use a gun!

And the terms of imprisonment for violating this act are ridiculus, Say I forget to renew my license after 10 years, and I am in possestion of an automatic weapon, (I have a small collection of weaponry) I could be facing 5 years in prison!

The classification of guns I accept, needing a license I accept, but not renewing it and having to undertake 10 hours of training on matters I am already trained in, the limits on criminal convictions, dangerous thiefs and murderous should not be allowed guns, but do not limit other people who have commited some minor offense. And also limiting the time spent in jail for violating this bill!

We need measures to stop the criminals, not the innocent free people who have the right to bear arms in self defense!

So stupid law. I mean, i have used guns for my entire adult life. And i don't mean some small pistols, but M203s and even M2 heavy barrels. This law is totally moronic. With police and military funds so low we need to DEFEND OURSELVES!!!!

Members of the CC!
I would like you to hear a proposal.

Captain Martinez and I both share similar views on the right to bear arms, and I feel the majority of the CC feel the same as this is one of the points of our platform. So Captain Martinez came up with the idea of a organisation that promotes the right to bear arms and to limit the amount of legislation and government control.
Unless there are any objections I would propose that the CC help fund this organisation, I of course shall provide a large ammount of funding myself.

Captain Martinez sugested that this organisation be named:
Eutopian Firearms Association (EFA)
The goal and aims of the EFA would be to:

1: Promote gun owners rights.
2: Campaign for responsible firearms use.
3: Campaign against unfair and unjust laws (or Proposed Laws)

It would be open to all gun owners and provde a centralised effort to promote the rights and limit government control.
Also this organisation would promote awareness on gun safety and organise fun days and shooting tournaments.
The shooting tournaments could be a national event, of course funds from the CC would help here and also we would accept donations and entry to the tournaments would be subject to fee's.

Of course if the majority of the CC members do not wish for this organisation to be afiliated with the CC then this organisation will be totally seperate, but I believe also this organisation could raise membership and support for the CC.

I leave this for the members to discuss
