First off, I'm really enjoying Marius! Great job dev team! Now an update for diplomacy, trade and economy should really do the trick for wrapping up re-thinking elements of the game. Ok, maybe a bit more on elections for republics and party politics as well for good measure
What I noticed with the pops being wiped out after battles (a great edition btw) has been a drastic population cut down that risks creating de-populated zones in the game, so I wanted to bring up a suggestion:
Prisoners of War!
Perhaps 20-30 percent of all battle casualties of the enemy could give you (like the option of after sieges) a menu with what to do them:
1) Enslave these pops, with upright costs to simulate moving them back to your lands (long term you gain from them becoming slaves)
2) Liberate them--they go back to their territories, you have an easier time pacifying them once you take the lands
3) Massacre them too---a pacification issue later, but you get rid of trouble making non-culture pops in the long run.
