Primary Title Claim for invasion

So I have a claimant for Scotland married to a woman from my Dynasty (don't have available daughter). I can go to war to claim Scotland, but I cannot request an invasion due to the fact that I am bigger and that I do not have a primary title claim. But if my claim for Scotland is good enough to declare war, I do have a primary title claim, right? What do I need to gain a primary title claim?

i just guess you and the king of scotland are both catholic?

If YES then: Your char has to have a claim on the kingdom scotland then the pope will grant you for 500 piety an invasion cb if he likes you more than the the actual king of scotland. That CB is lost btw if you or the king of scotland dies.

If you are not catholic the only other invasion useable by players is the muslim invasion cb which needs no claim at all.

I would suspect that the primary title claim holder must be you. The other guy, if he had land, could request an invasion CB. You're stuck with just pressing claims, I believe.

Basically, I hovered my mouse over the Request Invasion button to see if I can get an invasion. There was a big red X on the requirement that says you are smaller than your opponent or you have a primary title claim. Everything else was green.

That is because you yourself don't have that primary title claim. You can't press someone else's claim in an invasion.

And in fact even a weak claim is sufficient. I personally managed to invade Sicily using a weak claim once .

Still you can declare claim war for the kingdom on behave of the claimant you have. So if you win he will be the king of Scotland.
