Don't worry guys, our publisher has asked us to remove all political policies from the game so those will not be there when the game is released.
Huh? Every single social policy is a political question, are you removing all the cool stuff like ban on skyscrapers, public transport, anything tax related...?

holy hell, is this what society has come to? That a game developer can't just code in "M+F+kids" for a "family" in a city building game? That they literally need to code "M+F+Kids 98%" and "M+M .5%" and "F+F .5%" and "2F+2M .1%" and "transvestiteM + F .2%" and "ordinance to allow gay marriage?" "ordinance to allow civil unions" "ordinance to allow polygamy" etc.. etc.. etc.. etc.. etc.. etc.. etc... Screw this politically correct bullcrap and just make a game!!!

That this would even be a discussion and issue at CO / Paradox has made me lose a little faith in their development process.

Can't people be tolerant without having to go the extra mile to showcase their tolerance every chance they get?????

I don't think that's going to make me not worry, on the contrary, I hope your game doesn't elude social issues related with urban environments.

Uhm, what specific policies were removed? Yes, I read that it's the religious, political and sexual orientation-related. What specific laws?
Are we going to be able to add them back via modding?

Publishers... The majority of them should be avoided by gaming companies. Paradox aren't just making CO rush the game, but they're also making them cut content to please all the SJWs and the conservative people.

The religion/gay/moral thing should be back to the game and it'd be up to the player decide if he'll approve these laws or nah, these things can fill the aesthestical part of the game and giving the player the feel of power and FREEDOM to build and develop their cities as they want.

Perhaps you might explain, what exactly was cut from the game? If it's what I think it is + the context and reasons of cutting them out, then it's deplorable news indeed. I personally don't give a damn about these so-called issues, which both social justice w*nkers and ultraconservative nutjobs find "offensive", thus making normal gamers suffer once more from dumbing down the game and making it simpler and casual.

Well a city builder without political policies is rather bad, since actually building the city is only half the thing. The other part relates to the society, and without political issues the society aspects seems rather pointless.

However I've kinda assumed that we can mod a lot of policies in and thus I do not worry too much.

WOW!! the sad part is there is only like 1 or 2 comments on anything form the previews except for the same sex marriage item. I have views on the topic, but to be honest the game having a feature like this will not change the likelhood of me buying it as it is not a major factor in building a city. Do we need to include weapons bans, cigarette / tobacco policy, chewing gum (aka Singapore), curfews, what religions are allowed, etc... These all would be flavor only items that I think belong in a game like Tropico and not in a City Sim. There are plenty of social items the mayor of a town has to deal with but this impact does not really need to be modeled as it would be a pain to track impact to all people (which is why it belongs in Tropico and not this game where we do not have elections).

Don't worry guys, our publisher has asked us to remove all political policies from the game so those will not be there when the game is released.
So does that mean there will also be no policies on banning smoking (political), tax incentives for particular industry types (political), no policies on crime e.g. firearms, curfews or cctv (political), subsidies for public transport (political), minimum wages (political)? Almost anything could be deemed political by someone, so where do you draw the line?

Can you/Paradox please state your agreed policy on what counts as political policy so we're all clear? :p

Why should game developers be blocked by heteronormativity? They can do what they want. If that means going the extra mile to represent a specific group of people, then so be it.

Yeah, that's why it's probably best for CO to stay away from issues like this. I'd rather them focus on something like city building mechanics and simulation rather than controversial social topics, considering the buzz they generate.
