Paradox Interactive is already working in the new chapter of one most popular (and complex) licences on PC strategy Games

Europa Universalis: Rome will combine resource management and building construction with army management and control in epic battles.
The game with run between 280BC to 27BC, allowing the player to witness the ascention of the roman empire and start playing any date during that time period.
Note that the game will not recreate specific historical events, but depending on the initial choices of the player its characters will develop, being these the central focus of the game.
Playable nation-wise, you'll can count on more than fifty, whereas besides Rome, will exist others as Egypt , Macedonia and so on, each one with its own base caracteristics, and we may expect six diferent unit types, divided between those of ranged weapons, like archers, and those specialized on melee, like infantry.
Besides the vast strategic option available to the players, diplomacy and religion will have a great role.
Europa Universalis: Rome will go out during 2008, date TBA.

[what? Egypt? No way. This must be the Ptolomaic Empire]

I wouldn't worry much about that comment. imho, most of the people doing reviews on strategy games are...you know, ..., they call "age of empire" strategy, even tetris could be strategy for them, everything where you have to think a bit ahead is strategy, maybe everything where you have to think. Ever fried an egg? that's strategy!! :D

And more, the common reader doesn´t know what the Ptolomaic Empire was. It´s easier to just write "Egypt".

Anyway, does anyone know what the Ptolomaic themself called the Empire?

I think Egypt, or some variation of that, after all Ptolemy styled himself a Pharoh

Europa Universalis: Rome will combine resource management and building construction with army management and control in epic battles.

This description can be made for all RTS-games. :)

And Johan has already said that there will be no tactical battles so they can skip those 'epic battles'

Age of Empires is a strategy game, even if you wouldn't play it.

They called themselves the Ptolemaioi. They wouldn't have called themselves "Egypt" (or Aigyptos) because they didn't see themselves as Egypt but the successor to Alexander's Empire.
