my bad. I had thought that someone had got a copy from a beta tester and made a preview from it. It was the 'through questionable techniques' that threw me.

Looks like a nice feature. Much better than taking provinces by yourself and than release them. Saves lots of BB

Looks like the UK might be starting with Bill of Rights (Magna Carta) as a national ideal. That should be interesting.

Do Spies just preform one action or are they a character you can use for more than one activity, until they are killed?

IRL, if you put money and save it in your treasury inflation will go down because there is less currency in circulation.

Unless of course treasury is being used for private loans, but then the interest should take care of that problem with inflation.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't overly complexify the game if you added something like a more realistic inflation (in the sense that the average gamer wouldn't need a degree in economics to understand what's going on). To keep it simple we could have:

The more money you spend (or the larger your budget deficit), the more inflation
The less you spend (or the larger your budget surplus) , the less inflation

It doesn't take into account all the nuances and complexities of monetary economics, but it sure makes more sense than what we have now and is IMHO easier to understand.

By the way, if y'all have any additional questions about the beta press preview version of the game, I'll be happy to answer them. It came with a nice 54-page guide to the game and stuff that's planned to be added since EU2. The version I have is apparently the same as the one the beta testers are getting, although I received it about 2 weeks ago. Paradox asked to have previews held until Sept. 11th, so we should see some more previews in...of course, the first is the best

And Tycho Brahe is damn sexy.

But, nearly everything in EU3 is supposed to bw moddable, so here's hoping I can kill it.
I have made workaround events for Vicky so it should be possible in EU3.

Maybe they did; maybe there's a certain level of minting you can do without getting inflation.

At any rate, inflation is the only thing in EU2 preventing you from having astronomical amounts of money as you frequently end up with in CK and Vicky.

Incidentally, my blog just happens to be fresh out of subjects to write about.

And to make this message more useful. I must say I'm kind of surprised about the amount of national ideas. Somehow 30 seems like a rather low number.
