This arent reviews.
Though I do agree with him that WW2 is a stale setting. The reason HoI3 holds so much interest is because it does things that are different from what other games about WW2 routinely do (i.e., focus exclusively on Europe, exclusively after 1939, without any new ideas whatsoever).
You are correct - it is a PREview, not a REview. It's meant to provide a quick introductory idea of the game to people who don't know about it.
EDIT: Though I wonder if they actually had the preview build in hands when they did those E3 previews? Will there be another round I wonder?
I am offended by your type of posts that are becoming more and more common around here that seem to find anything and everything to complain about that the developers do wrong. Now not only are they wasting your time with what you concider a bad review, they are not giving you enough detailed information about the game.
Really though, it was rather hilarious that Johan finally gave a neutral country to do this time around.
Wow what a horrible review. Did he even play the game through? That 2nd paragraph was so mindless and confusing, talking about ICBMs? Reviewers really need to spend time with these complex games..... cant just play a once through with a Minor and write a review
Review said:Sid Meier's games may boast accessibility and easiness, but when it comes to depth and replayability, Paradox remain unparallelled. Put simply, they're the best at what they do and Hearts of Iron III is a great testament to that.
people, what's your problem?
This is a mainstream preview, it is about telling the testers feelings about a beta build of a soon-to-be-published game. Telling people who in 95% probably never heard about the hoi series.
In that light i don't understand why it is a problem that he compares hoi3 with civ4. Sure they're different games, but civ4 is probably the best known game to the casual strategy gamer reading the preview. And it is not that the previewer tries to compare explicit game features or something. And finally, he concludes:
This is, first of all, a pretty good judgment in my opinion, and second, a kudos to paradox and hoi3. And still you are bashing this preview. I mean seriously, what do you expect?
Aside from the non professional on on this site(EDIT I mean this forum) (which was far better then the rest)......

However, the inclusion of such detail is of dubious necessity, as they're easily ignorable if you have huge armies to stream-roll the opposition with.
You dont feel allmost offended by this text posted as a "gift" or new information,or what?, 3 weeks before release, instead to enjoy some new special in-depth video for us on their own forum?
Is it a gift to us who are sitting on this forum for months?
Is it some new information to us who are eating and aspirating every word they tell us about game for allmost a year?
If asking for something more precise, and at least serrious about game 3 weaks before release is pretencious elitsym, than I am pretencious elitist.
If they cant or dont want post anything new, than its better to post nothing.
