HOI3 vs. Civilization
This isn´t the first article which compares HoI 3 with Civilization...
Well, for people that are use to play games like Call of Duty and WoW, and are not familiar with strategy games, I can understand if they see some similar elements between these two games.
(Note: I don´t say CoT or WoW are bad game, or that the people playing them are stupid or so)
Wow what a horrible review. Did he even play the game through? That 2nd paragraph was so mindless and confusing, talking about ICBMs? Reviewers really need to spend time with these complex games..... cant just play a once through with a Minor and write a review
You'd think they'd compare it with ETW or something?
What the previews frequently don't get is that the "peace" options (i.e., politics, diplomacy, etc.) aren't there as a "substitute" for war, they're there for the same purpose that the units are there on the map. The game is a unified system, not a "nation-builder" and a wargame coexisting, but not interacting, within the same executable.
Otherwise it's sort of short, although I'd like to see where he would go with his comparisons and conjectures, as some were pretty outlandish (ICBM-armed Germany?). In his defense, by the way, I think he provides a few more details than some other previews (though nothing that couldn't have been gathered from playing HOI2 and reading the dev. diaries).

But I want to be honest and say what I realy mean this time.
This poor fellow that made text, had a gut to call this text a preview of HOI III,in the same time made a comparison of HOI III and Civilisation IV. and Sid Meier
When I see this kind of comparisson I instantly end reading the text.
I dont care if he later in review sad something that has a sence,I had enough of this sims/civs so-call strategians soposedly reviewing HOI.
The days when there was term review and this ment serious thing- are over.
This arent reviews.
Please,guys from Paradox,at least make a rough selection before posting a link to semi-pseudoreviews like this...sorry but its true.
EDIT-Oh and didnt you noticed its 2-3 weeks before game release,dont you think those kind of texts are actualy a kind of provocation for people who awaited and read every word of your dev. diaries like a mana from the sky, for allmost last 10 months ,and now are in awaiting of some true and realy new thing and expirience?
If you think that we,who are most solid and secured group of your custommers dont deserve more(like for instance some more in-depth videos from game)than please dont insult us with this.

I liked this part. Made me laugh. Who plays this game to tweak sliders and stay neutral.

This arent reviews.The letter to my mom when I was soldier was longer than this.And my grandma understands my Opel Astra engine better than this poor fellow understands HOI thats for sure.

Do we really need more pretentious elitism on this forum? Sorry, but playing HOI versus Civ does not make you a higher form of life. The preview is terrible, but it has nothing to do with his comparisons.
You dont feel allmost offended by this text posted as a "gift" or new information,or what?, 3 weeks before release,instead to enjoy some new special in-depth video for us on their own forum?
Is it a gift to us who are sitting on this forum for months?
Is it some new information to us who are eating and aspirating every word they tell us about game for allmost a year?
If asking for something more precise,and at least serrious about game 3 weaks before release is pretencious elitsym,than I am pretencious elitist.
If they cant or dont want post anything new,than its better to post nothing.
Maybe their (HonestGamers') userbase isn't filled with completely fanatic Paradox's fans who are just waiting for new information. Maybe they want to give good general information to general public, not to the most hardcore fans of series!

I am offended by your type of posts that are becoming more and more common around here that seem to find anything and everything to complain about that the developers do wrong. Now not only are they wasting your time with what you concider a bad review, they are not giving you enough detailed information about the game.
Really though, it was rather hilarious that Johan finally gave a neutral country to do this time around.:rofl:
From a marketing perspective, they've already sold the game to the hardcore Paradox fans. What they need to do now, to make as much money as possible, is sell the game to potential fans who know nothing about it.
Johan links these reviews because he's sadistic and knows everyone here wants more information. The sadistic part is that the reviews, no matter how good, won't have new information. He enjoys tormenting us (in a good natured, sadistic sort of way.)
I'm always looking for a (p)review to send off acquaintances. This one I might send off to a 10 yr old who is crazy about WWII.
