I'm still not sure whether this is a joke.
It is, but at the same time it is also some cool fluff that can be purchased if you feel like it. There is no gun being held to anyone's head here.

Haphazardly picking DLC ideas out of a hat to sell for $4.99 is still a silly idea to me, reagardless of whether or not I have a gun to my head.
People keep saying "just don't buy it", well, thanks for the tip, friend, I guess I won't. That doesn't mean the DLC or Paradox is above criticism, or that it isn't a valid question to ask whether or not this DLC really is a good idea for the game or the devs to begin with. I guess we'll see when they get around to releasing it.
Actually the main reason this might be worth buying is to add another end of game challenge.
You are well within your right to criticise, friend, as this is a fairly controversial DLC. However, I do feel people are overreacting here, as its not a massive mod that overrode effort for more important game mechanics. It's a bit of fun, if people don't want it, they can just not buy it, instead of spreading their whinging all over the internet. I guess that's what the internet does though, make mountains out of molehills.
That guy claims he will defeat the aztecs with a united Roman Empire... yeah right... have fun fighting 150k stacks of mongols, illkhanates, and aztecs at the same time! (with 80% of your empire rebelling in factions!)

Oooh, province renaming? Yes please.
is anyone mildly confused about why the Aztecs have longships?
Sounds interesting. The only problem I see is that it means even longer trying to work out where all these places are e.g. I can betrothe my son to the Countess of Sarkel. Sarkel is that in Hungary....

You seem to forget that the writers of Blizzard consists of people who's IQ is lower than a rocks(that and if their writing is anything to go by, they're kinda batshit bonkers). I could also go on and on about how the unique circumstances of WoW is what led to the adding of the panda(like them being the fetish if their art director). Though your problem with monks is a bit baffling as monks has been in the game as a concept since vanilla WoW(scarlet monks and so forth). Only problem with them is that they focus solely on the panda way while neglecting all others completely.I think a lot of players (me included) are afraid of the direction the Devs started and if the reaction of "crowd" will be positive enough the trend will just deepen.
Dunno if you're familiar with WoW, but don't want to end like WoW adding Monks and Pandas into the game.
Wasn't it explained as the vikings had managed to get far enough south so that the aztecs, or rather what became the aztecs in this alternate timeline scenario, got ahold of their ships and basically reverse engineered them?Well... It's Aztecs ... in Europe ... in 14th century
Considering the setting I'm a bit confused why Aztecs having longships or horses or whatever would be any more confusing?
