youre talking about power gaming.... what is that?

Are there any ways to become a blob really quickly? Or is it all about just forging claims and trying to marry into some family?

Its using all the game mechanics and Exploit the AI to gain power(holdings, titles) as quickly as possible.Since most of us don't enjoy twiddling our thumbs for 400 years, all of us "Blob" and "powergame" to some extent.

The ranting and whining you see in these forums is the Frustration of Players(Me included)with not getting our way all the time.(Since we all think we are Alexander the Great,Julius Ceasar, and Genghis Khan combined)

I love this. So, so true.

Just going to get back to my game rebuilding the Roman Empire as Augustus Alexander Khan I "his greatly-supreme-glorious-ness."

Oh wait? What? Augusts Alexander Khan I just died of illness at age 37? .....reload :D

God is on the side of the super-mega-awesome ;) So I'll just pretend god got upset and reloaded....which sort of alludes to another being we all think we are the second we open up the console or reload XD

I played as Count Northampton in my current game (1066 start). I rode out the Norman and Norwegian invasions building up my war chest(they never went after my county) and they eventually petered out and lost their wars. I fabricated claims on the independent Welsh counties and duchies and attacked (hiring the 75g mercenary bands to augment my forces). The King of England also made me the Steward and gave me the Duchy of Oxford so I built up a decent demense in just a couple decades. After that, I fabricated a claim on England (using the plot, got the English spymaster on board giving me a huge bonus). I sat on the claim for awhile until the current king died, then the new king immediately folded to a faction that put Duchess Lancaster on the throne. Duke York would have none of that crap though and made a faction to put me on the English throne. I joined up with that and Duke York didn't waste any time making his demand to the new Queen, who laughed us out of the palace and so we went to war. It was a long and bloody conflict but we came out on top (Duke Kent wasn't happy either and ended up going indepedent for awhile during that war).

Once the English crown lay atop my head, I changed the succession to elective and voted for my genius grandson as heir. When he became the King, he expanded and took Ireland, and slowly whittled away at the Norwegian and Scottish territories until finally getting enough to call himself Emperor Britannia. He then married the lusty Queen of Hungary, lost a leg fighting one of her wars (that was later healed by a benevolent boar when he decided to hunt the feast meal by himself), fathered 12 children, and went insane, but that's really a story for another day.

Ireland is a great place to start, once you get used to the game with a little luck you can go from Count to King in a generation.

Then you can have all sorts of fun. Right now I am playing a kingdom of Ireland game, but my next game I think i will s start as a count in the HRE and with nothing but marriage and plotting see how far I can go.

do you know what the requirements for forming an empire are?

How much of the territory do you have to own before you can proclaim yourself emperor?

is marrying into a family and assassinating your way up the family a common tactic? I remember back when it came out before I really got into it I could assassinate people all the time. Now it seems to be REALLY expensive....

I played the vanilla game right when it came out but not until now did i get into it.

It seems to have changed a helluva lot

OH!

I almost forgot, those blue traits like Hunter or Hedonist.....

Can you teach them to children? Or can they only be learned from events?

and which one of the empires is the easiest to form and how should you go about it? I always wanted to form one of the other empires but I cant! Which one is the easiest to form and what is your strategy for forming it?

Sorry about all the questions guys...

oh also how do i marry someone in my family and get them to inherit and steal lands from another house?

I never see any of the families direct heirs willing to marry into my family
Usually you have to settle to marrying further down the inheritance line and then assassinate the people in front in the line of succession. Sometimes if you find a ruler with a son who is heir and also has some children then you can marry the children of the heir more easily as they are further down the line of succession. When the son actually inherits they will of course move up the line of succession. It's not all about marrying and inheriting land though and often it's just easier to marry to inherit the claims on the land and press them yourself. You can find a claimant for the title (preferably with an inheritable claim) and marry him/her into your dynasty. It's also worth noting that all the children (and 2nd+3rd in line) get claims on a ruler's titles when the ruler dies, so if you want to take a kingdom later, you can just marry one of the King's children and later press the claim.

do you know what the requirements for forming an empire are?

How much of the territory do you have to own before you can proclaim yourself emperor?
It's different for each Empire as some have restrictions based on culture/religion, what provinces you hold etc. Usually you have to hold 80% of the counties in the de jure area, have 400 piety and somewhere around 600 gold.

I almost forgot, those blue traits like Hunter or Hedonist.....

Can you teach them to children? Or can they only be learned from events?
They aren't passed from parent to child or tutor to child.
