Prethoryn Swarm army bug

I got the Prethoryn Swarm endgame crisis in my game. After several years of intense battles i noticed something strange. Around 40 years after their arrival they simply stopped conquering planets. They still had their massive fleets flying around but there were pockets of colonies from other empires, right in the middle of the Swarm territory, and they didn't care about it. Sometimes they would send a fleet and destroy the space port, but nothing else. They'll build a single army unit, and immediately go drop them on a world they're currently bombarding
Someone has an idea how to fix this??
