I mean what does Persian Empire has to do with Roman Empire? Why would Persian Empire support claims in Roman Empire, such thing is considered a declaration of war by Persia and not "a support for a Throne". I mean what Other Realms have to do with Internal Politics of Other Realms. Sovereign Realms do not deal with Politics of Other realms.
The inverse literally happened: Khosrow II had managed to regain the Persian throne with Roman help. (In exchange for this help he handed over west Armenia and Georgia to the Romans.) Though after the emperor who placed him on the throne (and was his father-in-law) was overthrown and killed he invaded the Byzantine empire to avenge him (read: restore Persia to the Achaemenid borders), which didn't completely go as planned.
Which (promising territories to foreign benefactors and then later reconquering them when the benefactor himself is usurped) sounds like a bunch of interesting options, to have in game.
I really like this suggestion especially the part where your vassals can decide to support the pretender. A shame that no devs have responded to it...
Seems like a good idea for a mod though.
Lol

*cough cough* Byzantine-Sasanian War of 602-628. Hey, it's even Roman vs. Persian!
In 591, the Byzantine Emperor Maurice helped the Persian King Khosrau II regain his throne. When Maurice was deposed by Phocas, Khosrau took umbrage and declared war on the Byzantine Emperor (Phocas), ostensibly to avenge Maurice. Heraclius, in 610, deposed Phocas, and restored the status quo ante bellum with Persia once Heraclius figured out what he was doing.
