What should scale are ambitions. My heirs when they come to power can never pick exalted among men because they start out with their prestige to high already and the same thing for piety usually.

And with the new breeding in 1.07 in 2 games (starting 1100,1200 finished to completion) only my first ruler in both games was not a genius. Meaning I cant even pick the improve stat ambitions.

And I usually have enough gold so there goes that ambition. So only ambitions I can pick are married, wants boy/girl and most of the time Ithat was accomplished before he became ruler too.

So basically except for the first 50 years in both games I can never use ambitions.

If they stop heirs getting themselves slothful/craven/arbitrary in a couple of years after getting their own county (or worse still kinslayer), they can reconsider the penalty.

I had great fun landing all my dynasty in my last LoR Roman Empire game. Nothing quite like 20 despots of your dynasty going around trying to get good marriages for their children (and often succeeding due to awesome dynastic prestige and their high rank).

I love marrying off my excess sons to countesses and duchesses across the map. My record is France, Castille, Sicily, Navarra, and the ERE all ruled by members of my dynasty. It took an abominable bit of luck. I married a son to the Duchess of Aquitaine who then pressed her claim to the French throne. I assassinated her son from her first marriage and bam! My grandson inherited France. Castille was one where the Queen accepted a regular marriage for an alliance. Sicily was one where I married my daughter to the 3rd son of the King of Sicily matrilineally. She was 2nd in line to my throne and my heir was only 1 at the time. She was a genius elusive shadow. It turns out she was quite capable of assassinating people on her own. Her husband ended up on the throne.

i'd change unlanded sons penalty a bit. when youre a 1 province count, it doesnt really make sense. how are you supposed to give them lands? or when you have 30 sons. thats a hell lot of land. i'd like a system where you need to give certain repsonsibilities to sons(i.e. a son being marshal negates the penalty), a son fighting a battle makes gives hima modifier that removes it for liek 5 years ect. while in alrge realms giving a son a mere baony isnt taking away the penalty.

Something along those line'd help. It'd also help if you could sort of ... throw away younger sons. Number seven in line is never going to amount to anything at home in Toulouse, so he might as well go take service with the King (and the like). This should also work for Muslim Dynasties as well. If the second son runs around being Marshall for his father, that shouldn't increase decadence. He's not being indolent or anything after all.

If it is possible I always give my sons at least a barony upon reaching maturity. This way I ensure that they will not be tempted away to some foreign king's court, who can then press his claim for my lands.

I'd like something like "temporarily give away holding", so basically my sons get to rule the holdings only for as long as I myself rule, afterwards everything goes back to the heir and he can newly distribute the family lands to perhaps this time his own sons. Though obviously this would need to be well balanced, giving appropriate negative opinions and events like refusing to give their possessions back etc.
...the way it is now, even if you do give your sons holdings, they'll essentially immediately start their own branch of the dynasty. With some ~3 sons on average through every generation how many holdings would you know by the end of the game? Quite a lot, at least ;)

That sounds a little gamey

In reality you should look for unruly barons or counts to revoke their title and give it to your son if you're not conquering new lands for them.

The penalty as it stands could be removed and no one would notice. That's a sign of a shifty penalty. Though if they do bump it up they should add other methods to remove the penalty. I really feel like an opinion penalty with vassal would be appropriate. Something like your a horrible father and will not provide for your children.
