If someone could explain this for me. I am the King of Ireland. I had someone in my realm who had a claim on the Kingdom of Scotland. I invited them to my court, gave them one of my counties in Ireland, and then pressed his claim for Scotland. I was of the understanding that he would remain my vassal. But....he ended up with my county and Scotland, but not under me. What did I do wrong? I am playing Old Gods I believe if that makes a difference.

Thanks

Its simple. One cannot have the same rank ruler under him, eg King can not become vassal of another King, Duke to another Duke etc

So he will be forever be grateful to you, but now he's the King of Scotland and you are the King of Ireland, now you and him have a similar status instead of King and Vassals. This can only be done in your liking (he become your vassal), if you were the Emperor of Brittania/Custom Empire.
