Effective today I resign from my position as Deputy MILE.

I also resign from all government policy committees.

Quite frankly, I am disgusted.

This has been one of the most active terms for the MILE, and I am proud of the job we have actually done to actually SOLVE crimes, rather then let violence and terorrism go unsanswered.

While Minister Lundgren has perhaps taken a more aggressive stance than I would have on some issues, I respect his hard work and the job he has done and my resignation has nothing to do with him personally.

But despite this marked difference with past administrations, and our success, the political extremists in this nation have succeeded in convincing you that what we are doing is wrong.

They brazenly defy the government, actively plot against it, and work against the progress we have made.

If the people side with the extremists, and have forgotten what Eutopia was like before, if they want a nation of armed camps and political spectacle instead of the rule of law then I will accomodate their wishes.

I am going on sabbatical. When I return I will assume my duties as Attorney General, and will continue to maintain Eutopia's judicial system, another crumbled aspect of our government which we restored, ending long prison sentences with no trials, but which apparently no one cares about.

Hopefully an active AG will take some burden of the MILE, at least that's what I will try to do.

In the meantime, you now have what you are all clamoring for. I hope you find it to your liking. Try not to get shot in the face when the violence starts.

If what you are doing attracts criticism form the extremists then obviously your efforts are have the desired effect.

I am sorry to see you go. I'm not sure whom you refer to as "extremists". But if you look at the record, myself or the ESRP, has never criticized yours or Mr. Lundgren's work with MILE. We have issues with certain gov't bodies, but never MILE.

Sir, you purport not to criticize the MILE, but the streets are alive with stories of your payment to terrorists to recover Per Doctor de Vlaminck rather than allowing MILE to proceed with their investigation. You may not call that criticism, but it's undermining their lawful duty in my book.

Per Reverend, I for one welcome you to active duty as Attorney General. With your efforts focused there I am certain you can make a difference and achieve justice for many.

it seems to be part of the political culture, here as in many other countries, to blame government for every conceivable and perceived ill, without at the same time giving it credit for its achievements. The RD as a whole and myself personally have been in your shoes several times, so I understand your disappointment and frustration as well as your decision.

At the same time, I sincerely hope that, after a period of reflection and after getting some distance from recent developments, you will reconsider your decision. The two of us may not always see eye to eye and disagree on issues as often as not, but I have always respected your hard work on behalf of this country. In these turbulent times, individuals committed to true public service are rare; Eutopia can ill afford to lose one of the most dedicated of them.

I will echo Per Teano's sentiments. Over the last two terms, the Moderate Party and the government in general have worked hard trying to stop crime, terrorism, and violence. What's been our reward? We are called dictators. We have worked hard to put the concerns of our so-called allies' political agendas before our own in mistaken attempts at ensuring Coalition unity, and what has been our reward? A total lack of support and attempts to get the resignation of our President. Now the crazies and the armed mobs are taking over, and how many people are even willing to support a resolution to stop them in the National Assembly? Two votes, and one of them was mine, after I wrote the resolution. How is the anti-terror committee going? When we have bombers and armed compounds all around us, what is anyone else trying to do to stop them?

Nothing. And who is accused of inaction? The President and the Moderate Party. While others openly circumvent the rule of law and legal investigations, clamor for the removal of the President, plan and attempt to execute coups, rile up groups of people in the street inciting them to violence, and otherwise act like children shoved into adults' jobs, the Moderate Party is trying to make a difference for the better and getting it shoved back down our throats.

So, simply put: Screw you. This is what you wanted, and you've got it. Violence and chaos in the streets, terrorists everywhere, an utterly ineffective legislative body, and armed, dangerous, treasonous criminals who are bound to simply walk away after trying to overthrow the government.

We've tried to put on the diplomatic face and get as many people to like us as possible. We've taken your public abuse and verbal thrashings with a smile. We've been used by allies to advance their own agendas while ignoring ours and failing to support us in times of need, and then dropped by those same allies when we were no longer "useful" to them. No more. Jack's clearly sick of this crap, so am I, and the entire Moderate Party. But I'm leaving the government in every single capacity at the end of this term and not looking back. I refuse to be a part of this mess any longer.

So now all the extremists have what they want. Go have fun with it. And I'd heed Jack's advice...keep your head down.

Mr Teano, you don't like me and I don't like you. However, I must say that you are one hell of a opponnet. One that I might even miss. I hope that you will be able to serve Eutopia in your position of AG.

Mr Von Streusser, I have one question, do you or do you not think that the O'Floin administration failed in the Foreign Diplomacy?

I think the administration itself succeeded in foreign diplomacy. The trip to Canada yielded a promise to host the NAFA conference, which never got off the ground, and the trip to Washington D.C. stopped a mercenary army intent on inflaming an open revolt. Sounds like success to me.

The diplomatic failures of the term come from those people who attempted to initiate coups and incited violence in the streets. By providing Senator Blowerd of America with ever more material to run through the "Eutopia is an unstable little terrorist threat mill", the extremists managed to completely undermine every diplomatic gain made in recent history. Well done indeed.

But those losses cannot be placed on the government which in fact was successful in foreign diplomacy. Those losses must be placed on the people who continue to fund and perpetrate violence all over our island.

Heavens, is the moderate party too lackluster to stand the heat? Where is the violence in our streets? Other nations seem to tolerate dissent and protests just fine without their leaders reduced to tears; I am all sure we don't recall the American leaders pouting after the WTO riots in Seattle. EUtopia seems at peace to me by and large. What problems are there that no modern nation does not face? Some fundies in a backwater province running amock... the police handled that. The police have done a remarkable job apprehending bombers. You speak of coups, yet no sense of a coup has ever materialized. People speak of revolution in the streets, but where is the insurection... the worst EUtopia has ever seen is the cutting off of sewer lines to a foreign naval base, who apparently didn't give much of a flip. Per Teano made great inroads with the French, Per Morgan made great inroads with the Americans. Look at your own accomplishments, rather than eating the negative propaganda spoonfed to you by the opposition. Senator Blowerd..is going to work against EUtopia, regardless of what you or any party does.

No use crying over spilt milk, the government can only do what it can do, and face up to the pressure. As a former Head of State, I must pass on this advise to the Moderate party; if you think you are doing such a great job, then act like it for once, instead of playing the hurt martyr... do you expect the opposition to pat you on the back, and go all to pieces anytime some citizens voice disagreement. You are here, because people elected you to stand up for certain viewpoints... you will never unite the diverse nation into a happy hand holding circle.. EUtopia is a diverse and struggling nation. I certainly know, no one at all seemed pleased while I was in office, yet the work got done and I did my duty. If the Moderate party is to have a future, they should start acting like it, and speak with pride and confidence, instead of with tears and pouting.

I rarely comment on the political spectrum these days, but if the world is to take us seriously we need strong leadership that acts like leaders, rather than spurned lovers.

Now to the rev. I think that you should continue the good work, in what you do you do it good, but you CAN'T do everything, so what don't became perfect is NORMAL that people critizice, running aways isn't the good way to handlle things... While that advice is all well and good, Blade!, we HAVE been "acting like it" for two terms now, and in return we've gotten what? Demands of resignation and an utter lack of support from other parties more determined to wreak havoc than to help our country. By and large, the people seem eager to support the extremists, so we are simply giving the people what they want. The religious groups fighting police in Fort-aux-Francais, the Eco-Fascists fighting the military, Topa suddenly armed with heavy assault weapons, a military itching to occupy the WET, monarchist bombers, mercenary armies in our waters...with this much violence ready to go and held in check for so long clearly against their wishes...

We're just giving the people of Eutopia what they so desperately seem to desire...a removal of the cooler heads trying to keep the situation in check. And I imagine the voters will validate this statement by voting for those parties that support this kind of extremism come election time.

But it's not the voters who should worry, it's those parties who are content to do nothing but sit back and watch, spouting extremist dogma and hoping whatever militant group comes to power will support them in the future, circumventing the rule of law, etc.

There is no crying here. We are the servants of the public, and will give the public what they want. And it would appear it is not cooler heads. Who are we to question the public's will? Truth be told, that's all I have to say about this. I don't care what anyone thinks about me after these remarks, but they had to be made. I've said my piece.

My goodness, you would think with your words that the general populace was up in arms, and parading through the streets with anti-MP banners. Who are these so called "public" who are disapproving of you... you are merely caving in to criticism from other parties.

You complain about a military... well damn man.. the government controls them, replace the chiefs if they don't follow your policies. You talk about Eco-fascists fighting the military... yet you do not speak of causulties, authorization, or anything... why is the government lauching raids on EEP compounds if you are in fact confirming this? You blame "foreign" mercenaries on EUtopia's general public? Heavens, will you blame tha attitude of Senator Blowerd on them as well? And finally... the Topa with heavy weapons? Last I heard anything about the Topa was their General counsel and they've been dead silent since then.

Stiffen your party's backbone man, you have the power, why do you care what a few extremists think of you? You can't blame the public and act as if they wanted this... hell, did the American public want 9/11 because it occured? At first I was sympathetic, but seeing your continued "poor me" act, in the face of success, I am merely seeing why the MP is giving itself a self-fulfilling prophecy on popularity; they paint themselves worse than any opposition party.

I must admit I'm somewhat concerned with the extent of defeatism that seems to characterize much of the Centre. This is not intended as a criticism; the business of politics can be disheartening at times, so I understand perfectly well where people are coming from.

However, all of us who choose to engage in public life know this one thing going in: politics isn't easy, and politics isn't fair. Is Eutopian politics rough sometimes? Yes. Can it be frustrating? Most definitely, yes. Can it be soul-destroying? Even that.

But let me also ask you this: do you think Eutopia is a nation worth fighting for? To this, the answer must be a resounding yes. There are people among us who seek to undermine the welfare of this nation. They are a small minority. Even if they weren't, should we give in to them and leave the fate of this great island in their hands? I say we fight them tooth and nail!

Sometimes, the challenge may seem overwhelming. Is leaving the battlefield the right answer? I submit that it is not; and if we do retreat from battle, we are defeated. We cannot wash our hands of the result. Democracy is easily lost, and the future of the island with it. Defending Eutopia from those who would see it fall to ruin is our duty. We owe it to our country to fight, and to its future. We must not give in, we must not give up, we must never succumb.
