When my buddy preordered his a couple weeks ago he was order 672. I'm not sure if that is total orders for everything or just HoI2 but it sounded good.
I did pre-ordered now around a month ago, using Firefox, no problems at all, fast mail, no problems... The friend of mine which gave me his CC to use for the buy didn't get the money "away", but I think that is his problem, he will receive my money as fast they took it from him (To say, we don't have € in Switzerland, so we don't know how much it will exactly cost -> what he will receive from me in Swiss Francs)

There was "The shop's order number:" in the webshop. When I bought it the count was somewhere near 1600.

My order number was in the 1300s. It was displayed in that external Pay-Service thingie (somewhere on the right just after one has clicked on "confirm")
But that could be the number of ALL games ordered not just HOI2 ...
Btw. I never saw the order confirmation that Fiendix posted ... all I ever got was that my credit card details had been accepted ... that was the screen before one could click on Next to get to the "bill"
