If this works out, we'll be able to fund much longer and bigger support for titles.

Because we liceince a 3-D software engine so you would need to pay for the exporter to make your own sprites. It's the same as Rome. From that point of view I doubt we will see many user made sprite packs.

What engine? It's likely modders could write their own exporter if it is a common third-party engine.

Its like that annoying feeling when you go and buy a new car, when the sales guy says 'of course the price is as advertised, BUT if you want a CD player, or metallic paint, or a sun roof, or electric windows, or leather seats - it'll cost extra.

In other words you can buy a car that will get you from A to B for the stated price, but if you want to enjoy the ride as well it cost more.

Is that how HOI3 is going to be, a basic experience unless you pay and pay and pay.......

I have spent everyday of the last year or so on these forums waiting for the game to be released, excitedly reading every dev diary etc etc, and I am now beginning to ask myself if I am even going to buy the game.

I don't know which engine it is and what it costs, but I'd guess it's not that improbable that some HoI players/modders will have access to it.

Yeah you can, that's the best part! I can just download it wherever and play if I'm bored at work, holiday, friends. Even better than steam because you don't have to install something, like leaving behind a mess.

Oh, sorry, my mistake King - i thought it was announced, that sprite creation would be encouraged or something like that. It just said, that every unit can have its unique sprite now, right? But if those cant really be made by modders, does that mean, that PI is trying to make that into some sort of ´micro-payment´-model? I mean no offence, but i hope XPs for HoI3 wont take the form of ´a minor game-mechanics tweak here and a lot of sprites there´. Of course we can still opt not to buy it if we dont care about sprites, but it would be unpleasent, if some of us wanted to enjoy a richer game (mechanic-wise) and not care about sprites have to pay for the latter mostly. So if you intend to publish sprite-packs as micro-xps, please keep them seperate as much as possible from mechanic-enhancements, please.

Usually PI titles come as uni-language version - anyone correct me if i am wrong or that is different with Hoi3, please.

I think that you are comparing features to details. What Paradox is selling is more like another colour for a car, not a extra feature like CD player etc.

i have to agree with you, but i so happen to have a thing for counters so it isn't a big loss to me, i guess if i love hoi3 i might buy them, nice extras but... it is really a form for merchandizing i dislike...

i would have prefered to get a version without sprites and/or one with lots of sprites it in even if it did cost twice as much.
