It's called a pre order incentive and is pretty standard conduct to give an extra, smaller, bonus to people who buy early :)

its cool. to each their own. i get it, the monument packs, a total of say 20 different with 5 items will be 4.99 each.

this tactic would have been the down fall of sc5 if the actual game was decent. the french pack the german pack the blah blah blah.

It has always been, as stated from day 1, the plan to focus on building a solid base game (which is intended to be relatively reasonably priced) and then following the PDS model of release regular paid and free content updates. If you don't like that maybe you should have taken issue with it earlier. As long as the DLC doesn't run into the multiple hundreds of dollars for real mechanical DLC then it's not really the same as what EA do.

I'm guessing you're new to Paradox? They are the king of DLC.

actually im not.. its just the same tactic sc5 was trying to pull off but the game itself failed before they could fully employ this approach. the game had so much negativity, this would have completely killed it at the very start. thus the free nissan leaf etc.

i get extra content/addon may cost, but monuments and parks that have been "core" elements of the genre, something paradox is claiming to be targeting shouldnt be.

There are loads in game too, this is simply an extra incentive we've put more developing funds to create and add as a bonus.

So it's not stuff we've pulled from the core game just to offer, it's the other way around :)

You do pr for paradox, its cool, you dont have to sell me. I use to be apart of the industry, i get it.

However, I know from personally experience, that paradox is going to put off people with this tactic, especially in the city builder community. My friend is ranting to me ask I type this. He says he is going to mod every single piece of dlc you make. More power to you and him i suppose.

I know this tactic has already deflated my desire some. Now I'll just take the wait and see approach, instead of just jumping on board.

Im all for paying for "true" expansions. But eh. Goodluck regardless, i hope the game does well

You're of course at liberty to have your opinion, I just think you're a bit too fast to distrust.

We know we can't compete with modders when it comes to buildings. Thinking something else would be silly. That doesn't mean we can't contribute to the bunch :)

aside I'll still try to get the Deluxe Edition because Paradox Interactive and associated companies are trustworthy to me

Nothing stops modders from recreating all our assets. We're not in the market to compete with them :)

Look, this is just my opinion as you say, but man let me tell you something.

Paradox says they dont have enough staff to build more assets (something along the line as ea/maxis has more staff building buildings than paradox has total), so basically we the fans have to deal with repetitive buildings for now. Yet, you guys already have the Gaul to offer assets as DLC bonuses already. We the people know where this is going.

Owell though, way to take a swing at EA/Maxis..... this is your chance to take their spot and you wanna use a model they have, that people dislike. As i said, more power to you.

it almost smells like ea/maxis or their formers are a silent partner in all of this.

Thats all i have to say. Like, i said, i hope you guys do well. cheers

Why don't you play the game before you judge the bonus content. If it's genuinely lacking in core features that are then whored out as DLC, we'll all be on board. But you're way pre-judging this, if it's just eye candy then... Well, I'm not exactly a fan of Day-1 DLC, but it's not that egregious an offence.
