Preloading EU4 on Steam

Hi,

Yes there will be a preload. But seeing how the demo is easily moddable/piratadable, the devs will probably wait for the last few hours before releasing it.

EDIT : well apparently there won't be a preload.

Johan has confirmed (repeatedly I might add) that Preloading is not an option - They would have to add more DRM to the game to avoid early piracy issues. So it's either the ability to play (singleplayer) without Steam - or preloading a gigabyte a few hours early.

Tough choice?

It unlocks at 5pm in Greece, so it will be unlocking at 3 pm in the UK, i guess....2 extra hours I have a barbecue party to attend so i will probably lose the first day myself...the suffering...

Game size isnt that big, so i doubt release is going to collapse Steam servers. Download speeds should be normal.

Luckily I can remote control my home computer, and the moment it gets released I will press the install button. So when I get home everything will be in place for world conquest!!! Muhahahaha

Or you *might* be able to copy the demo files to the EUIV location. Steam will check which files are correct and just download those who aren't.
Considering that the demo is the entire game with a few out of date and changed files it should work out just fine. Just remember to verify integrity the cache after you're done.

I can't guarantee that it works, and for all I know your computer might explode if you do this.

It could be dangerous, Paradox might have change things inside the files since the demo, so I don't think it's rewarding enough to do this.

But...The Games are encrypted by Steam when preloaded, and need to be decrypted, so no one could crack them anyway.
