Presuming World War Wednesday finally goes hot today, despite the Polish peaceniks, who do you put your money on claiming ultimate victory and crushing the other in ignominious defeat? Who wins - Johan or Jakob?

I think Johan, since he's not had his plan mucked up by anyone else. But Jakob has had more time to prepare, so it's anyone's guess really

I think at the moment, Jakob will win, as even though he had his original plan messed up. Johan neglected his army quite a bit by going fully motorized. he hasn't (as far as we have seen in the videos) done little to produce general infantry, tanks, marine or any other army focused military units besides his motorized units and a few tanks. I think he will end up getting wiped by Jakob in Europe and Africa. Further he hasnt built up his colonial defenses that much (again as far as we know by the videos) so he may have troubles in the far east and Africa. Meanwhile Jakob has but a decent army and air force that can contend and probably defeat the Poles, French, and British. So I think Jakob will win and do well as long as he doesn't mess up in the East or Africa. Because for him he has to win and win fast before the US arrives and helps Johan. Anyways just my opinion and I look forward to the videos that prove me wrong or right!!!

Jacob has got the Poles on his side and he has built enough Army to wallop the Low Countries and French easily. The problem will start, when Italy starts getting trounced by Johan's Motorised Armies. A swift invasion of Libya or even Sicily may force Jacob to react. Also "SEELOWE" looks impossible considering the poor navy of Jacob and the mediocre airforce (he has concentrated on fighters and some short range bombers, with no strategic bombers).

On the other hand, i am not sure how the War in the East - vs USSR will play out, if Jacob does an impressive Blitzkrieg and swallows the Soviets on the Riga-Minsk-Kiev-Odessa Line, then he wins the war else difficult. Another thing is how Japan acts and how much Johan decides to reinforce the Eastern theater (that will decide the pressure applied on Italy).

Overall for Jacob-
Messed up research and production due to interference - Negative
Decent Infantry Forces - Positive
Mediocre Luftwaffe- Positive
Poor Navy- Negative
Low Amount of "reserve Tanks" - Negative
Decent Amount of Research - Average
Good Land Doctrines - Major Positive

For Johan-
Good RAF - Positive
Good RN- Positive
(though both are partially due to Legacy)
Folding of Poland- Negative
Motorised Army- Positive .. He can reduce his casualties and inflict more on Jacob which will mean pressure on Jacob when the war in the "EAST" starts
Chance to destroy Italy quickly- Major Positive (again due to Legacy)
Low Population and Less Units - Major Bottleneck for UK
Dicey situation in the Far East- Major Problem.

I predict those Trotskyists in the Soviet Union will end up just steamrolling all of Europe.

Brush up on your Russian!

(I hope we get to see a crazier WWW once this round is done. I want to see something like Comintern vs Allies or something).

I think overall Johan will win. But I think for him it will be a lot more bloody due to his all motorized force. He may have mobilty but he only has few divisions. Jakob can easily pair in terms of infantry 2-3 for every one of his. Not to forget his numerical superiority in terms of other divisions as well.

Johan will win: he has a much superior airforce and a naval fleet. So he doesn't risk any invasion to the british island and at the same time can cripple the german industry with aerial bombardaments. Then he just have to wait for the USSR and the USA to do the heavy work against the german army.

Johan will win, because the historical Situation of the UK is superior to Germany. If Germany is not dominating the Word by 1942 it fails sooner or later.

Johans mobile force can even prevent the fall of france, when it is used as a mobile reserve.

This is a tricky one but here are my thoughts on this.

Jakob will invade Poland and should conquer it fairly easy. At the same time, due to the lack of true Polish airforce he can direct most of his fighters to provide protection over Germany as Johan would probably try to strategic bomb him. However as the air tech is still a bit early, Johan's fighters will lack the range to achieve air superiority over the whole of Germany, which would leave his strategic bombers vulnerable, therefore I predict that their action would be limited to the front that is close to France, Netherlands and Belgium, therefore minimizing the impact on Jakob's industry.

Another dangerous point might be the maginot line front, as I can see that Jakob has a lighter force there, while Johan has sent some of his forces to bolster the line. Therefore there might be a risky play of Johan trying to push through there, while Jakob's forces are focused on the east. This could be a double edged sword, if he succeeds he can cause a major setback for Jakob and probably decide the fate of the war then, however is not able to breakthrough and Jakob finishes quickly in the East it might turn around the tables. Its an unlikely Gambit but might happen.

Now if the war proceeds as it has historically and there is no early push into Germany, then lets not forget that Jakob would get their industry and build up his airforce at quicker pace than Johan.

It seems that Italy has the upper hand in Africa at the moment considering the balance of forces there and if Jakob send in the Afrika Korps, he probably will be able to push the Brits out of Africa.
The situation here is worse for Johan, as although he has built a motorized force, he lacks the number of units needed and therefore will be difficult to adequately reinforce that region. Asia seems in a poorer state in terms of land units, with terrain that does necessarily facilitate the use of motorized units and the Japanese navy will be a very dangerous opponent.

Therefore from what Johan can do himself I believe, he is already at a disadvantage and his fate would probably be decided for him by Barbarossa and the US.

So I would say that currently Jakob is poised to win, unless he gets bogged down in Russia or the US whipe out Japan completely.

Actually the best thing that can happen for Jacob, is a push by AI France and Johan's precious motorised troops into the Rheinland and then into German Territory, then due to superior Infantry numbers, Jacob can pull off a major encirclement and in the fall of 1940, the Anglo-French may well end up losing 25-30 divisions for some temporary gains. (remember Jacob's bomber fleet is not very strong but his fighters are in plenty and good Bf109's, so he won't lose Air Superiority on the defence).
Then, if he pumps out Bombers and Tanks in the 4 months of 1940 and makes a Blitz via the Low Countries in April, it will be difficult for Johan to counter.
Also, Italy has some 120+ (binary) divisions, half in Africa, if they make an aggressive push, Johan will need to send his motorised troops there and abandon the French to their fate.

Shri I agree completely, you summarised what I wanted to say in a much tighter and cleaner way!

After the live-stream today it looks like Germany is doomed. The war to control France looked way too costly in manpower and equipment. Jakob doesn't have the Navy or AirForce to invade GB before the war with the communists starts if following a historical path.

I think he gave attack orders over the Maginot line even though he said he didn't.
And of course he did not have a proper planned Fall Gelb/Rot anyway it was way too much chaos. And also his initial army composition was bad maybe partly due to that other guy who sabotaged his Panzer III plan so hes not to blame for all of that. Then we have Finland and Spain joining that is also far from optimal. Air and Naval was also bad it seems.

That USSR alliance thing might be his only chance left but then I am not sure what the conditions for that are and it probably has other disadvantages which might bite him. Or he could fail to get it anyway.

Rule Britannia!
