I've been looking in on Stellaris during it's development and am quite looking forward to it, but I had a question regarding game setup. I've heard that there are quite a few options for setting up your empire, obviously, plus some things about the galaxy itself... but is it possible to do a Precursor start, being the only spacefaring species in the galaxy when the game begins and with only pre-sentient lifeforms everywhere else, forcing you to either uplift other species if you want some neighbors/competition or just wait a very, very long time?

I find myself imagining a game where I expand throughout the empty galaxy, blob across the entire map, obliterate my empire in a civil war and then watch from my home cluster as the fledgling new races inherit and build upon my ashes while trying to survive whatever doom I unleashed on the galaxy when their stars were still young...

You can set the number of AI empires to zero, thats pretty near a precursor start.

I'm not sure if that disables pre FTL species that can develop to space faring though.

Nope, the AI empire slider excludes Fallen Empires, pre-FTL primitive civilizations, and pre-sentient species.

Well I was pretty sure pre-sapient species were not locked out but 0 AI empires. Its new to me that fallen empires are also not affected.
Thanks for the correction.

Edit: So you'd have to wait for a mod to do your work. I'd say its 1 to 2 days after start you see one ;)

If its not possible at start the modding options will make it plausible, and it sounds like a few like this idea, so you should see a Precursor scenrio made rather quickly by someone

Iirc, fallen empires had their own option.
Nope, there was no slider or option for Fallen Empire. You're probably thinking of the "Advanced" starting option that gives some of the AI factions a headstart with more outposts, ships, and colony ships.

Also, this would definitely be moddable too.
Yup, I imagine all of these galaxy generation variables for Fallen Empires, pre-FTL primitive civilizations, and pre-sentient species to be easily moddable in some define lua file or RNW-esque define file.
