This might be an observer bias, but so far every game I played (around 5 in 2.2), the precursor system spawned in somewhat close visual proximity to my own home system. With no regards to actual distance in hyperlanes. So more often then not it spawned at +15 jumps away.
Is this something others encountered in 2.2 or even before that? Or something changed in galaxy hyperlane generation? I noticed that in 2.2 galaxy is not so much a swiss cheese as before, but rather a labyrinth, with very limited numbers of paths.
If my memory serves me right (which is not guaranteed), before I used to have round-ish empires and precursor system usually appeared somewhere in the middle of it. Right now I always some kind of snake and precursor system can't appear in the middle for the simple reason - lack of the mentioned middle.
Or is it just bad luck?

Precusers spawn in certain areas. https://imgur.com/a/GJtQIEQ
edit: So if you were like me, and only liked starting in a certain part of the map, it might be an area devoid of precursors, at least until you expand.

I use that if I am trying to get or avoid a certain type of precursor. As for hyperlanes, its really really random. Just nudge up density of connections setting.
