Honestly, I think the Galaxy edition is far too expensive for what it offers especially considering it is a digital edition (I might have been tempted If it was a physical edition thought). However, I appreciate that Paradox chose not to lock game content (even cosmetic one) on the Galaxy edition to "force" more people to buy it as other soulless companies might have done.

I will probably be getting the Nova edition.

Edit: A cool incentive for the Galaxy edition might have been to add a/your name to the name list for humans

Dude, just chill out. I agree with your points. Yet it doesn't at all matter to me. I'm glad I bought the game and got some free stuff with it as well. Hey, if people want to buy the editions with stuff that seems pointless to us - it's completely fine. I'm actually glad that these people are spending their money on Paradox, they are a fine studio, making great games I have no problem sinking hundreds of hours into. I actually want to thank all the people for buying the Galaxy version - their money went to good use and if it's a fair trade for them then everyone is happy. I bought the simplest option and I'm very much content with it (Sure I'd like my spider empire, but I want my 10€ more) People who want the soundtrack, wallpaper and whatever get them, Paradox gets their cash and we cheap f*cks can be happy someone invested in the game studio whose games we are playing. A lot of cash = hopefully a lot of quality and quantity of what we desire in the future. It's truly a win-win situation.

Paradox is starting to scare me more and more.
I don't have a problem with these bimonthly dlc's that add up to over 100€, but now they also lock content, even if it is small, out unless you are willing to pay 10€ more than the base game.

39.99 is great, it's 20-30 bucks cheaper than most other AAA Titles, and higher quality than alot of the garbage we see for 60-70 bucks.
Not only that, but I bought the Nova edition, 49 dollars for an exclusive race, more support for the devs, and still 20 bucks cheaper than most games? That's a nice deal to me.

Look, Paradox is not trying to mess people over, they're just giving options, little options, if you want the base game soundtrack just rip it from the folder, they're just offering you access to afew bonus tracks, and the knowledge in your heart/mind/soul that you gave them the extra 10 bucks, because you believe in, and like them. Don't be a dick about it, if you want the game just pay 39.99 and get it cheaper than most games of comparable (or inferior) quality and be happy you got it so cheap. There is no excuse to whine on this one, it isn't like a balance decision or cut content, it's literally just tiny bonus stuff that has no actual impact on gameplay, and is entirely optional, and you can effectively go without it, and get the game for only 39.99.

Sorry if I offend anyone with this post, but honestly I love paradox, and I'm not a 'fanboy' I don't defend their balance decisions or their decision choices at every turn, I infact disagree often enough that I need mods to rollback some of said changes, but nonetheless this is a good deal and anyone looking at it logically can see that. As for the demo thing, I'm sad they don't have one, but between the streams, the wiki, the forums, and the option to play for free on a later weekend we really don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to the demo argument, they're doing all they have to, and more.

You have to connect your Steam account to your Paradox account, and then update your forum account to sync it to Paradox.

There have always been artbooks and soundtracks in collectors editions, it's what people are supposed to buy these for instead of the race graphics (though that is what everyone here goes bannans about). One of the ebooks is also $12 on Amazon, so you are essentially buying a bundle of the Stellaris book released 2 days ago, the game, an artbook, the games soundtrack (which you can now put on an ipod or whatever) a signed wallpaper, and some other goodies.

Nobody forces your to buy the most expensive version. If you don't care about the extras, then don't buy it. You are literately not forced to buy it. And if you WANT it, but can't afford it, then that's your personal problem, as it's all non essentials that won't make it an incomplete game by far.

With reference to the Steam codes, aren't they sent out on release day? Or have I misunderstood that?

Meh, if they were restricting serious functionality between game versions I'd be pretty ticked. But I think the more expensive options are more for basically "donating" to p-dox, which is fine. I do wish there was an option to just pre-purchase all DLC that will come out though.
