Pre-orders thinking outside the box

Yeah, I am happy to wait. I've bought plenty of Early Access, Beta access etc type games and, on the whole, they have been disappointing with the exception of Kerbal Space Program

Project Zomboid has been worth every cent + 1000% more. If they never released I already played enough hours to justify the purchase many times over......

But I do get peoples concerns. With the phase 3 release of the Master of Orion reboot I'm having alot of fun....not so much with the first two phases.


In a sense it's probably better to have a firm vision rather than listening to everyone's constant feedback. A closed BETA on the other hand could be good for bug hunting.

I hate "open-betas" and "early access" games. Open beta is more like, our game is probably crap, but it's not our fault it's a "beta" mmmkkkkk? Early access is "give us your money and you can play before other people."

Shewt, they wanna do a ... *checks calendar* ... 10-14 day closed beta (they get save game or whatever else they want, beta copy goes *pouf* on Beta final day et al) with an NDA from me, I'm SO there.

I know I wouldn't break the NDA ... 'cause asides from minimal requirements for sleep, food, personal basics and work, on Stellaris I'd be. \o/

And here I was about to half jokingly suggest paying Paradox to release more gameplay videos so I don't spend all week chewing my nails waiting for Thursday to come round...
