OK, so does anyone know if i prepurchase on Amazon (where i bought the special package last year) they all activated fine except HOI3...i would love to buy it there since i have amazon cash but would be very upset if it doesnt give me a steam key....

I am a little confused as to where should I pre-order HOD from.
I got the game and AHD from Steam, though because I had issues with some DLC called Old Vic, I applied some patches and did some tweaks that I do not remember about; the result is that I play AHD without logging in to Steam. I have a shortcut to the steamapps folder, and launch the game outside Steam.
So can I buy HoD outside Steam or through Steam?

You are still playing Vic with Steam, so you'll have to get HoD for Steam (not for GG).
You can preorder HoD via the Paradox Webshop, or buy HoD via Steam when it will be released.
I am in this predicament exactly, all these stores have a steeper learning curve than the game itself. I'd love to get my hands on the pre-order but it looks like i have to give up looking for the best opportunity.
Will this be available for purchase tomorrow on Steam? If not, what does it mean when people say you can buy elsewhere and get a "Steam Key"? Does that mean you can take a key, input it into Steam somewhere, and download from Steam?
well you got me. I didnt like too much the latest expansion, but I really like the last two of Hoi.. and I really want to enjoy more Vic 2, so.. well, here is my vote of confidence!
Yeah, i think that means that you get a key, and then go to the steam library and click "Add a steam game", and then put the key and you'll download the game in there. At the time you can do this you will also be able to buy the game on Steam itself, otherwise the "Add a steam game" woudnt work.
It means that you can buy the game at certain shops and receive a Steam key. One of those is Paradox's own webstore, Paradox Plaza. Another one being the digital purchase of the expansion through Amazon (Unconfirmed)
It should appear in the Steamstore as soon as the game releases in... roughly 8-10 hours (If all goes as planned)
I'm a bit concerned about the pricing on the paradox web store, 30 pounds (35 euro's) for the expansion? I thought it would be around half that price. Does it really add THAT much?

Thanks but I got that part already. My question is what happens when you get the key? You register into Steam and then it downloads whenever it's available from the Steam store? Or it will download before it's available on the Steam store? I guess I fail to see the point if you aren't going to get the game anyway until it's for sale on Steam.
It downloads when the game becomes available. People pre-order for the bonus game or because it's going to be the same price as Steam but paradox gets more money if you buy it directly from their website so some people do it for that reason (including me)
