It means the box will just be a Steam key though. Boxed games are dead.

I will miss the days when you got a 200 page manual, a map, a fold-out guide, and stickers etc... I understand why they don't do that anymore; I just miss the way things used to be.

They still do that sometimes with the exception of the printed manuel (you can get an online version for most games), its called the Collectors edition. They also typically give you figurines with those as well

If the past is anything to go by I'd expect it up for pre-order on Steam from two weeks before release.
I don't miss the days when one had to buy a bunch of plastic and paper that just takes up a lot of space.

In the new "Call to Arms" campaign you can get 2 dlcs, a special forum icon and some books (?). Now I'm wondering what the pre order bonus will be, the same dlcs? or the same special forum icon? Will it be "worth" to pre order if you already reffered to 5 or more friends?
I was wondering the same thing. But, having said that, I'd still pre-order the game right now if it was possible. For me, pre-orders (especially when combined with pre-loading) have always been about the ability to play as soon as the game is released. I've never really done it for the bonuses (which isn't to say that I'd turn them down).
