When we are at this topic, can I have some questions about steam purchasing? I have a steam account, but I didn´t purchase anything through it yet (I prefer boxes when I can, but I´ll make an exception for EUIV). So, billing adress is town, street and a house number? And also, shuld I use diacritics when I live in a country that uses it or should I write it without it? (for example Náměšť or Namest) Thank you.

Billing address is the address tied to your credit/debit card account (or whatever else you are paying with).

As was said before, billing address is the address that's tied to your credit card, usually it is the same as as your actual one. As for diacritics, you can easily enter your town name without it. It should work fine...;)

Let me think, Digital. Maybe because they are a serious, respectable, run for profit company, and they do not need any help with their funding? Maybe because releasing a half-finished game is costly? Cause you know, they do have a reputation that would be at stake. And some people would not care if this is alpha or not - they would give the game bad reviews (and they would be fully entitled, as this would be half-finished product) and some of this negative opinions would still be around after the final release. And it would be detrimental to the total sales of the game and the profit it generates. Financing through the release of alpha is fine for start-ups. This allows them to finish the game and they have nothing to lose. For grown-up companies this is, in most of cases, out of question. Seriously, Digital, do you think you know better how to run this business then Paradox executives?

So the ARMA 3 house, Bohemia, isn't a serious grown up company? Outside of funding, 'respectable' companies can get critical customer feedback to help improve the game for its official release, and a basis of the titles popularity for future sales and content. It's an idea, one Valve thought good enough to implement; you don't have to shit all over it and other companies with your crap attitude.

Seriously, Horachte, do you think you know how to run a business better than Gabe Newell?

Sorry, Digital. I did not mean to be offensive. I have no doubt the approach you do propose may work well in many instances. But in this case it is a well established brand, the game has been critically evaluated for and number of years, the developers clearly know what they want to achieve, and they could (and most likely had) get all the player's feedback they need from this forum. And as I said, people have the tendency to remember blunders, even if the game itself is in the alpha stage of development. Besides, your original post did put the emphasis on funding, which in a case of low risk project is not an issue.

And get an access to an early beta maybe?

(One can always hope;))

Trying to see it from the developer's perspective I'm not sure how valuable beta testing for a game such as EUIV is. I also think it's a bit of a cheap way for some companies to get money for their product before it's ready for release, so they make an early "fake release".

How valuable you ask? Well, they would get a detailed info how game runs on countless different machines and configurations and they would certainly get a bunch of volunteer bug hunters and game testers. Just think how much bugs and potential game changes/improvemets are found every time any game is released (even if it is as polished as ck2 was), even after couple of hours.

And it would not be an early fake release. It would be available only to those who prepurchased it and it would be clearly stated that it is a beta version (maybe even with a pop up that would appear every 30 minutes or so)

In a video on YouTube from that live stream that happened however long ago (Which I sadly missed) one of the PI guys said it "the game is in decent shape, it's perfectly playable and we could ship it". To me that sounds like a beta release would be perfect, they sound like they've got the core down but they need a little more polish on it.

God damn I want this game.
