I like Steam, the social part isn't exactly facebook quality, but it isn't anywhere near as bad as it used to be, and it doesn't slow down your games when it runs in the background anymore. It's a totally different program compared to how it was when it first came out.
I haven't bought a physical cd in like two years, and I almost never pay ticket price for a game. The summer sales right now and selling like entire catalogs for 30-60 bucks. It's kind of cool to have bonus stuff and a physical box, but it's even more cool to just go and click download on your games list without having to hunt down an old cd.
