I still do not understand the unfounded anger against Steam on these boards. (...) it has a social networking system,(...)

Your anti-social?
Ontopic: I think it would help the game sell among non-Vicky fans.
Well you have to be connected to it to play your games. So a) if your internet's down and b) if it just refuses to connect, you're screwed.
They say you can play offline but that feature doesn't work, at least it didn't for me.
By the way, you haven't played Assassins Creed 2 then.Well you have to be connected to it to play your games. So a) if your internet's down and b) if it just refuses to connect, you're screwed.

Good game, but sad they force you to be on an internet connection. Also if your internet suddenly breaks down, the game closes as well. Haven't tried it yet though, but it's damn annoying for those who have an unstable internet connection or don't have internet at all!
I don't think a lot of people are going to be interested by this, though. I sure have no desire to go back to the old Victoria after this comes out, unless it miraculously (anti-miraculously?) sucks. It's like: buy a car and get a horse-and-buggy free!
For most games I don't have to mod I like Steam, but once theres a game I actually want to mod, I throw steam out the window. Long live Gamersgate!
I second this statement. I like steam, but I like to tinker with Paradox titles, and it's easier to do that without Steam. But for anything else, steam is highly convenient. For most games I don't have to mod I like Steam, but once theres a game I actually want to mod, I throw steam out the window. Long live Gamersgate!
You haven't even tried steam, have you? You can play every game offline as far as it (the game) doesn't require it to be online, like CoH / AC2 etc. Tell me one reason why it shouldn't work the same way for you.
... I agree with paradox using steam for distribution, smart guys wont use steam, thats it...
I think it's stupid as well...I guess I'm an idiot. Thanks for revealing the truth, smart internet guy "flecha224".
I always enjoy getting cool stuff with a collector's edition or pre-order; has Paradox actually announced anything, though?
Also what's up with the vitriol? I like and use Steam and I'm sure Gamersgate is a fine service as well. Paradox sells titles on both, and they make a profit off of both, so what's the difference?
