Indeed. I'm baffled by the idea that DLCs preorders are sneaky and underhanded
Im curious about the policy towards potential COA mods. If i released a COA mod which included my own versions of the COA in this DLC would that be frowned upon and banned?
I believe the answer is yes.
He seems to be happy that it's free for him, but unhappy that others will be charged $2 for it. In his opinion past precedent is that things like this would be free for everyone, and if that's changed (or he was wrong about past precedent) he's gonna have to cough up $2 for a DLC he thinks should be free in the very near future.
Myself I'm reserving judgement. The historical CoAs DLC would almost certainly have been a free patch in CK1. It would have been included in the Improvement Packs, and most of their content eventually made it to the main game. But it would have taken years, instead of coming with the game.
The Mongol faces one would never have been made because modders couldn't do it without hacking the exe, and the main team always had more immediate things to worry about when it worked on CK1.
On the one hand I'm not sure either one's worth $2. OTOH I don't have to spend the $2 if I don;t wanna.

Just a question: if custom Coat-of-Arms and different ethnic groups are moddable with only the vanilla game, I expect the community will do mods that improve, overlap with or entirely replace some of the graphical DLCs (at least some of the 2D ones). Will there be any official policy about it?
I mean, if someone wants to create a mod that adds hundreds of historical coat-of-arms, including his own version of these added with the DLC, are they free to do so?

Excited about these DLCs! Can I assume the same will exist for Steam? I'm troubled about where to pre-order from. What will be the difference between a Steam or GG copy? I keep hearing scuttlebutt about the Steam version being the "official version" if there is such a thing.

The only difference I know about is that beta patches will be available only for the Steam version.

Had already pre-ordered on GG, but I'm still glad to see this, always nice to have something extra added to my immersion

Due to the online direction CK has taken, and the need for identical hash check to play multiplayer, I doubt there will be any noticable difference in how patching will be done between the two version.
Beta patches are beta patches, they are intended for testing rather than mainstream gameplay so I doubt we will see much of them. My guess is that we'll be seeing more smaller patches at regular intervals rather than the current beta patch development followed by a major patch.

Although i do hope that i dont get screwed over like with hoi3. If this game is unplayable at launch, i will never preorder again. All the beta videos give me high hopes though.
Am I the only one who thinks 40 euro is a little steep? I literally cringed when I saw the price, was Vicky's price similliar when it came out?

40 euro maybe is too high, but after so long time waiting for this game i'm just glad that i can preorder it.
Will the Amazon download version be through Steam? I want to be able to get beta patches.
